It wasn’t imagination it was when they were still a teenager still in college, there’s no imagination all the past scenes u have been seeing are flash back to when they are still very young and in college/ high school so that scene was shown to use side by side with the present day scene to show us the viewers that the both of them have kissed before and they are equally in love with eachother snice their college days
