I've seen on the internet a loooooot of bad comments about Joy's acting in this drama and I have one question…
I don't dislike her acting as much as I dislike her character I guess. She seems like a supporting character and a recycled version of every possible cliched K-drama heroine out there - wooden, pretending to be cool and aegyo but weak, perfect grades and looks etc. We might see more depth in the upcoming episodes but it's been 4 eps already and her character is still one dimensional... which is bad when the main female character is in the shadow of a supporting "villain".
The scene in ep 3 when men are eating and those poor wives and female relatives are standing beside and watching, waiting for the approval to sit - almost made me puke. Disgusting.
Can you please STOP calling people on this board ignorant just because they didn't like the beginning of this…
You called users who voiced their negative opinions "illiterate", "ignorant", "children" etc. You are insulting them (or should I say us, because I belong to the group of those who disliked it too) and that is not okay. And how exactly are we ignorant? Huh? I'm familiar with the plot of each adaptation and the novel, so?
So what if only one episode aired so far? Who are you to tell us that we are not allowed to review it or say we dislike it? And what's that got to do with the source material anyway? If a drama failed to interest viewers then it's a bad drama, it doesn't matter whether one reads the source material or not.
This doesn't mean that the drama won't improve, but a bad beginning means it won't get a perfect rating in the end (at least by me), because the beginning is very important, it's like a first impression and it rarely improves, it can only just get worse.
By "chill out" I mean - stop getting annoyed by other people's opinions. The only person who was insulting others was you by replying to each comment: "go read a book", "so ignorant" etc. This won't make people like the drama more, on the contrary... Simply be civil, stop demanding of people to justify their reasons for disliking the drama and enjoy the drama if you already like it. I'm sure you're not the only one who likes it so it's better to start a conversation with them instead of provoking those who dislike it.
Hi, I don’t want to do a huge comment about this drama, but I just want to add my POV after seeing the first…
"but it’s still adapted to modern Korean society, so obviously different from the pre-Revolutionary French one. "
The Chinese version with Ziyi Zhang and the Hollywood version with Reese Witherspoon are the proof that modern adaptations of this novel can be done well - as long as the actors perform a good job and the script has some substance. Which is not the case with this drama adaptation, at least for now. Joy's character is the worst one of all - she's supposed to be this "notoriously cold-shouldered girl" but she seems like a recycled version of every cliched K-drama heroine to this date.
Oh the ignorance rampant on this message board, I laugh. This is a remake of a remake of a classic French book…
Can you please STOP calling people on this board ignorant just because they didn't like the beginning of this drama? Everyone is entitled to their own opinion so please stop acting like some sort of judge who has the right to insult those who failed to see the brilliance of the first two episodes just like you did.
I watched all of the adaptations of Dangerous Liaisons and I STILL DON'T LIKE THIS ADAPTATION. I might like it later but the beginning shows me that this will be a very cringy and try-hard drama with pretty actors but mediocre acting and even more mediocre writing. And I don't (or anyone else) has to explain myself to you.
Chill out and stop calling each person who says they don't like it ignorant. The only thing you'll manage is to get yourself reported.
Okay, the 1st ep was terrible T_T Cringy, boring, sloppy, without any substance or chemistry. It seemed like a parody to be honest. I'll give it a chance until ep 4 and if it doesn't improve I'm dropping it - I'm also disappointed that they made it into a weird comedy slash melodrama.
Umm how does it have a mature tag and is 15+ at the same time ?
I think a mature tag is a mistake because I doubt this drama will have steamy or sex scenes, it's almost impossible for Koreans to air a drama like that on their TVs.
