Title Punks Triangle Spoiler
Wow to the second half of the episode. I have a few subtitle notes I will add to the subtitle error-correcting…
Thank you for including the time stamp! I might suggest a spoiler tag since it’s specific dialogue from the episode. Also, a heads up: unfortunately, there is one word in the sentence that I am not 100% sure of transcribing. (Indicated by plenty of asterisks)

What I’m hearing:
だから最初、お前と組むなった時も、人と連れものを、***ダサいやつ***と組むのも、本当に差役と思ってたけど、今は良かったと思ってる。

How I’d translate this:
So at the beginning, becoming a team with you, having to work with others, being in a team with ***an un-cool person/loser***, I really thought that it was the worst. However, I think of it as a good thing now.

I did not know this particular vocabulary until looking it up just now (I suspect it’s slang) but apparently ダサいやつ (dasai yatsu) would be used to refer to someone who is un-cool or otherwise a loser. So, yes, he does use the word loser.

As for the rest of the translation, I am confident enough in the meaning. I do find it funny character wise because Chiaki does actually say some very strong, backhanded things to Enaga in ways that just blow my mind a bit, and this isn’t the first one.

Yeah….I’m probably going to slowly go over the whole episode again later. For now I’ve just added the one that irked me the most on a personal level 🫠

A lot of ppl thought they were a lesbians couple at first 😂 Also many Chinese fans call AE and Enaga 姐姐/…
Honestly living for that energy 🤣 thank you for this joyful tidbit 😆

I can get behind calling AE/Enaga 姐姐 ✨

rather than seeing it as cringe I try to see it as Chiaki worshipping AE— he has that man on a pedastal because…
You saying this is funny because I’m suddenly reminded of Utsukushii Kare (My Beautiful Man) where because of the more twisted side of things, it doesn’t come off the same way at all imo. Pretty much the exact same action, but the context gives it a different vibe.

The best Japanese film I have seen in a long time. If you have the chance to see this in cinemas, I absolutely…
This is almost certainly going to be my personal film of the year. I’m going back to watch it in the cinema again this week.

Title (Love Song)
I’ve seen a few co-productions and yet this is only the second one on MDL that I would consider to be good. Keeping up with the Japanese subtitles for the Thai was a bit tricky, but I didn’t miss anything major.

The live interview the cast held (in a cinema in Osaka or Tokyo? I was in another cinema and saw it through a live stream) before screening was a real treat, and it is hilarious how loud Mukai Koji is offscreen relative to his character. The general vibe between cast members was also great.

I don’t think that interview will be uploaded anywhere either as they specifically said there weren’t any mass media members present, only those present in cinemas to watch the film - and so it was also much more casual than your average cast promotional interview/stage.

Title Escape Spoiler
Made it to the end of episode 3 and I’m definitely hooked. It’s well balanced and got me curious about a lot…
I hope Yui’s father’s reasoning becomes clear but even with the implications at the end of episode 3, his behaviour is unjustifiable. I am a firm believer that no one should be so intensely controlling as a parent, let alone for an adult child. All I can see is deliberate intense control of her life used to keep her completely isolated, which is no life to live.

Parental love doesn’t look like this. Perhaps a desire to use a person you feel entitled to looks like this, or a desire not to allow anyone else a glimpse at this person looks like this.

But her power is hardly of use to him or something to protect her over from what we know so far. She can essentially see people’s essence through colour, which surely would just make her a better judge of character than anything. Trusting the soft bright pink person didn’t lead her astray.

I very much like the de-facto found family vibe between Yui and Daisuke.

Seems much more like a comedy-thriller to me than anything, from the first episode at least

Is there an issue with the calendar for some shows? For example, this one is listed as Thursday on the calendar,…
I suspect this is a timezone issue for you. I’m in Japan and it says Friday at 1:15am for me. Unless you are in Australasia, Polynesia, or East / Southeast Asia and less than an hour behind Japan, it will air on Thursday for you. If you’re a long way behind East Asia timezone wise, most dramas will probably show a different airing day of the week vs airtime in your local timezone.

If I were in the UK this drama would show as airing at 16:15 on Thursdays in spite of the official information.

Funnily enough though this is considered a 25:15 Thursday drama, which is common for late-night airing Japanese romance dramas, since, if you stay up to watch them on cable, it’s still “Thursday night” to you.

Edit: I also checked Zomvivor and it’s a midnight drama in Thailand (2:00am for Japan), so again it will show as Thursday on your timer if you are west of Thailand timezone wise.

Glad I ignored the comments and reviews with this one. A sweet, fun, and comfortable drama. Yes, I get that sometimes you want a thrilling yakuza romance-thriller, but this never said it was going for that in the first place. Watching it with no expectations made it a joy to watch for me. It had just enough excitement while not breaking the overall tone of the show.

I enjoyed Totsuka’s performance in Rinko-san wa Shite Mitai and again here. He seems to suit more mature romance roles quite well.

“Young boss of the Yakuza” That man is 40 years old
To be fair…the yakuza does have this problem and 40 is on the younger side within the today’s yakuza. Police crackdowns have made it a lot harder to run so young people tend to do part time crime work (yami baito) rather than joining yakuza. Even many people who were long-time members have wound up finding legal lines of work because it is hard to make a profit the old way. Your odds of encountering yakuza members below 40 years of age are pretty low.

I wouldn’t say it is great, but I also wouldn’t say it is bad. It depends on personal taste, although I didn’t find it as interesting as I had hoped.

Where to watch in English subtitles??
It won’t be available for a long time. I went to the cinemas to see it in Japan, where it came out less than a week ago. Likely at least 2~4 months before it’s available outside cinemas and at least 6 before anywhere gives it English subtitles, if it is lucky enough to get noticed and get them.
