10 episodes in, I must agreed with everyone, the FL Princess Lin doesn’t fit in. Not sure it is her look or her acting….she look dry, old, awkward, wrong chemistry…. Maybe a different actress might make a different. If they must have romance, maybe add a stronger smarter princess. That being said, I really enjoy the male lead and the emperor’s acting

I must agreed with you on this one. I have seen several of her drama including serious role such as My Journey to You and Sword and Fairy, I just couldn’t continue because of her. Her acting just not convincing. Nowadays, there are so many good acting Chinese actresses out there, she is at the bottom of the list, to me.
Just finished watching this. Was frustrating most part especially weak prosecutors, till last few minutes.... applaud Zhao Li Ying acting. In fact, everyone including, young and old, did a very convincing job playing their role. The prosecutor and his wife argument is the only “comedy” genre.
One of a few drama that I can complete. This one is smooth, easy and fun watch. It is written and execute well. it hit several unusual topics during historical era such as women empowerment, wife initial divorce, creative business strategy and proposal, astrology, sailing, education, house of reasoning, turn enemies into friends, outdoor schooling etc , Hua family hit rock bottom lost everything several times but they regroup, became stronger and tougher. While facing the never ending challenges, they manage to Keep the tradition, society and family value... Zhang Jing Yi played intellectual woman well. Beauty and brain. Well rounded leadership. I could careless about the emperor or whatever.

Ya, he is good at acting cold face, cool look, tough, commanding and fight. He has the right physic and demeanor for that. You are right, he is stiff around her. I hope later episodes he will get loosen up like more playful, laugh, scream, naughty, roll on the ground or something….
