I htink it's cause the Northern language is quite different to standard (Central) Thai.
Is it really quite different? I know fan subbers have hard times subbing it but usually the Thai sub is provided for Thais to understand when Isan language is spoken.

Yeah, Chinese romance tend to be long and filled with as many PPL, a way to make money. Another thing is they have to adhere the strict government censorship. So basically they don't dare to be creative, provocative, or controversial or their work won't see the light of the day. But if you start liking one or two actors, basically they are the main draw. I have a short romance drama (with mystery tinge in it) you maybe interested in watching it. I actually wrote an article about it cos it's different from other Cdramas I have watched.

I know that romance dramas tend to follow the same patterns all over again (fall in love, misunderstanding, jealousy, breakup, making up) so it's rather predictable and full of tropes. I don't know if crime/suspence/investigation follow patterns or have tropes too? But what I particularly like about this drama is the culture that is unique. Even rare for Thai dramas.
