Ikr....Not even BFTB made the cut for me. I did not continue after episode one. At first I thought was the red wedding that made me stop, but nope, I found that I did not have any desire to watch it despite the folks around me talking about it. But guess if I am bored, I might do as you suggest and just watch dramas with an open mind and not compare.
