I have little to no expectations of short dramas that have an average of 15 minutes per episode because they are usually extremely crappy, but this drama pleasantly surprised me. Started off disliking the FL, then liking her, then disliking her when she pushed the ML off the cliff and then i liked her once more. I love that the drama strayed from your typical cliches - i also like that it included themes that most dramas fear to. Glad i gave myself the chance to watch it.
Honestly, i feel like this show should have ended at episode 24 - maybe 25 to conclude everything. After that, it felt like they were trying to fill in the gaps/extend the plotlines by including ridiculous plots like Concubine Yan (Princess of Xiyan) falling for the old emperor and getting pregnant - then literally dying (uggghhh facepalm) - i didn't miss her. she was so meddlesome, and it was freaking annoying. The trailer was promising, and the first 2 episodes were good. I got the darkness, hatred, tension and toxicity i was looking for. The further we got, the more the show descended into a pile of fluff and hot garbage. BTW wth was that underwater scene in episode 22? They still don't know how to make a realistic underwater scene in 2024?
Seeing who they cast as the grown FL i.e. Yang Mi in episode 1. threw me waay off. Her character is apparently supposed to be about 7-8 years younger than the ML, but she looks about his age or older. I went to look up the leads ages IRL and discovered she's only a year younger. Glad to see my radar isn't off. It doesn't look realistic and i wish they would've cast a younger actress as the FL. Making her voice (idc if it's dubbed or it was truly the actress' voice) all whiny in an effort to make her seem younger was not fooling anyone.
I tried - i really did, but the FL was getting on me nerves too much. Her level of stupidity sunk to the point of no return for me. I had to drop at episode 27. The arranged marriage tag brought me here, but the FL is a foolish nincompoop who always has to meddle in things. In my opinion, SHE was the true villain and blind as a bat at that. I mean, despite the fact that her husband warned her about Gu Qi Shao she was always with him. And I don't get what Gu Qi Shao didn't understand about the fact that she is a MARRIED WOMAN!!!!! leave her alooonee!!! What did he want from her? For her to leave her husband and be with him?
I was sad in episode 35, then i was bawling by episode 36 and basically miserable all the way to the end. Great show - i love me a strong FL (glad they didn't dub her voice as whiny/pathetic) only thing i couldn't get behind (like someone in the comments said) was when she was trying to force him to have a baby with her other than that, i like leads that complement each other in strength. I loved the friendship group that was formed especially the brotherhood of the Liudo Hall guards - it as hilarious to see them always lurking whenever the leads were having their lovey-dovey moments. It was a love-hate relationship with Li Tongguang (Jiu) - i would like him and then he'd pull some stupid/annoying stunt with his obsession with the FL. Glad that he FINALLY grew up in the last few moments of the show.
TBH i'm somebody who gets bored quite easily, and i got bored by around episode 15. After that i was just skipping parts until they got back together. After they got married i went back to skipping parts. I feel like they tried to achieve the angst, drama and ferocity that Journey To You did, but didn't quite manage to. This show was just lacking SOMETHING! though i can't quite put my finger on it
Couldn't get past the first 10 minutes of the first episode. It was too silly for the serious storyline i read. The effects weren't doing it for me - looked too artificial for me to apply my suspension of disbelief.
I loved her best friend Yan Lin. He was such a gentleman and a downright sweetheart. It was quite mature of him to let her go for her safety and not try to force her to choose him. I commend him for sticking by her side despite she not liking him romantically and also for the fact that he didn't stoop to being childish or immature. Yu Fang Yin's death was painful to witness - she was so loyal and kind and didn't I feel like they rushed the end. The ending felt rushed. It was sort of like they were trying to squish everything to tie together in the end in the final episode - Anyone else think so too?
I'm watching this for the first time. Ironically what happened to the FL in the first episode (intervening in that fight), is actually what's happening to Jessi (the kpop artist) right now. Glasses without lenses irk my soul. Does anyone know why they do this? TBH i feel like it was her parents (most especially her mom's) dream for her to debut as an idol. How can they just override her decision and pressure the ML. That is covert manipulation. The 2ML is so childish. I can't believe a 25-year-old man acts like that.
Apparently, the emperor 'loved' Li Rong and her brother - he had a rather crappy way of showing it. It's ironic how in the past, despite quarrelling for 17 years, Pei Wanxuan still loved and tried to protect Li Rong. He was the only one she could actually trust (as it turns out the people around her were poisoning her) but she ultimately had him killed. Despite that (having him killed), when they came back to life, he was still completely devoted to her and was ready to die for her. Su Rong Qing was a self - righteous asshole. He could have married her the second time and started afresh with her. He just made excuse after excuse to justify his actions. Dwelling on the past was a mistake. He could have used his knowledge of the past to make better decisions Pei Wanxuan's servant Tong Ye was pure comedic relief - that man made me laugh
Once again, it was good in the beginning, but sort of fell off later. I got bored by episode 30. Honestly the extra 10 or even 5 episodes were unnecessary in my opinion. The further i got, the more annoying the FL's voice became.
Truthfully, I got bored right around episode 20. After that I was sort of skipping parts until I finished the show. I'm sure this is just me being incredibly mean, but I could not for the life of me muster any sympathy for Hao Jia - her scheming in the first episode landed her in the position she found herself. With that being said, it was a good enough drama.
It took longer than usual (about 2 days longer) for me to finish this drama - I don't know but, in the beginning, when she travelled back, I just couldn't get into the drama. However, I did finish it, and it was pretty good. Knowing MDL, I would have expected it to get a higher rating, but oh well. Glad i didn't let the rating stop me from watching.
Pretty straightforward, although sometimes the story progression in the first few episodes didn't make sense (seemed almost like cut and paste). The ML - major eye candy
This was the comedic break/relief I needed from the serious and heartbreaking (or at least their attempt at heartbreak) Goodbye My Princess that I've just finished watching. It was better than i expected. The episodes were short and concise. The unseriousness of this drama is what makes it so enjoyable. Ending didn't really make sense, but who cares? It was a happy ending.
This is MY opinion: I did not shed a single tear - all the characters started pulling stunts that irritated me. In fact, i found the FL to be the most annoying character from beginning to the end. The majority of heartbreak they experienced could have been avoided/solved if they just opened their mouths and communicated. *N.B. The empress' eyebrows and makeup were pure comedic relief - it was giving "off with her head" lol.
'Whenever she smells happiness, she comes" - off course she can smell your happiness, what, with you and your mother always baking those silly pies. What a stupid waste of my time. Newcomers, DON'T BOTHER WATCHING!!!!! There is no proper revenge in this drama.
Cdramas are always a hit or miss for me, MOST ESPECIALLY period/historical ones - but this, THIS drama was absolutely golden. It exceeded my expectations on all levels. I usually hate when characters 'fly' in Cdramas (because they often look ridiculous), but the way in which it was incorporated into the martial arts was exquisite. Also, there was no character i hated more than i did Shangguan Qian. How did i know the b*itch was going to end up announcing a pregnancy (insert rolling eyes emoji).
The FL and ML were the stupidest people in this drama in my opinion. Despite most of the participants and the lisp lady proving that they can't be trusted, they both still kept making dumb moves. They should have kept their cards (discoveries) close to their chests and only disclose them at the right time to those that they could trust because of how untrustworthy most of the group proved they were, but instead, kept blabbing their mouths to every Tom, Dick and Harry who would listen.
It was a love-hate relationship with Li Tongguang (Jiu) - i would like him and then he'd pull some stupid/annoying stunt with his obsession with the FL. Glad that he FINALLY grew up in the last few moments of the show.
