Due to lack of good story writing, the show is being carried hard by the leads. Any decent writing and this would…
I agree, and usually the writing falls apart near the end, but here, the writing is not good even at the middle (which is usually where the good writing hits the top)
The mid 90s to early 2000s is the Kimura Takuya era" xD Good Luck! was my first drama with KimTaku (weird and scary title for a Airline Pilot drama lol)
Not highly rated viewership but also checkout Kekkon Dekinai Otoko. Award winner and one of my favorite Abe Hiroshi performances.
Come Back Mister - A great watch if you are a fan of Oh Yeon Seo. Surprisingly good main lead chemistry imo.
Beautiful Mind - Not a bad drama I think, but I didn't like it. My HUGE personal problem with it was the main lead was supposed to have "no empathy" (yet is so emotional? lol). Plus the disconnect between the leads (it doesn't help that the main female lead is not in the episode about 50%+).
The strongest? Doctor X lmao - has the best idgaf attitude (Season 1-3 are great, 3 being my favorite, movie and latest season not so much imo)
Another "Strong" character I would recommend is Dong Yi. A different kind of strong.
Then there's the other "romance" part lol (secondary characters)
His breakdown at the end of Ep 13 omg

But most Saeguks I've seen/watched always has a reference to the Crown Prince Sado. He and his predecessor/heir always referenced somehow.

Often times writer's write 2nd male "leads" just a bit too perfect and main main lead just a bit too broken.
