I watched 5 episodes. It took me two months. The first episode was a thing of beauty, ethereal, romantic. When it ended I felt truly moved but also satisfied, like I had just read a beautiful short story. It did indeed feel like literature.Would that I had stepped away then. Because over the next four episodes I have alternatively yawned, rolled my eyes or cringed. Yawned because the plot progession is glacially slow and pedantic. Rolled my eyes because stereotypical characters, the rough and loyal friend, the loveable ruffian younger sibling, the ambitious mother, the overbearing mother in law are.. so frikin predictable and boring. And cringed because the ML gets way way way too cheesy. Pouting, saving cake decorations as significant souvenirs, it would embarrass a 13 year old girl to be that corny.I can't finish this show. Truth be told I only came to get an eyeful of Hye Kyo and goshdarn she is heart-attack inducingly beautiful in this but its not enough. If you're lucky enough to read my comment before starting my advice, which I'm sure you'll ignore, is to enjoy the first episode like a film and then walk away.

Only recently discovered this actress and honestly slightly bewitched and bewildered by her perfect face. Its not even "oh she's hot" or "she's pretty", it's like appreciating an object purely for its aesthetic value. Like a perfect sunset. Naomi Campbell has such a face. And then I realized something - Hye Kyo has almost identical facial bone structure to Monica Bellucci, another impossibly beautiful actress. I invite anyone reading this comment to have a look: once you've seen it you can't unsee it.

Dropped after Ep. 6. The ML's character in one word is "scum". He's a nasty, dishonest, entitled, manipulative jerk whom we're supposed to like. Other humans aren't much better - his human gf is petty and vain, his friends are vapid his aunt is pathetic and his boss is creepy... The supernaturals on the other hand while sometimes ruthless are far more noble, more sincere and have integrity.

I had exactly the same reaction but I endured till ep 6.He kept getting worse! Lol.

Deserves a starring role.

Here's my advice and it's going to be controversial. Watch 3 episodes and then leave it. Because everything has happened, thrills, mystery, romance, comedy. It will be like a perfect short story or novella. Because the rest of the episodes get more and more illogical and pointless and packed with fillers just to justify the episode count.Obviously, I don't expect anyone to take my advice but maybe, after you've endured for what feels like forever, you'll remember I gave you an exit.

Not really. "Return of Iljimae" has a misleading title because you think it has something to do with this show but it doesn't. It's a different version of the same story with different cast and also different characters.

Good, entertaining show. Doesn't drag, great action scenes, sympathetic characters and some comedic moments that will make you lol. You won't regret watching it.

Overall agree except about Ja Dol / Shi Hoo. First he's like cursed, he was nearly murdered in the womb, then he was raised initially in poverty and later in abuse. He indirectly killed his own father and sister and all through he's trying to be the best person he can be. Regarding his love for his new little sister, I remind you again the abuse he received from everyone but her. I didn't see their affection as having incestuous undertones and his irritation over her adolescent infatuation with a masked bandit is understandable to every big brother.

Immature story, annoying, characters, hilariously tacky fashion but young Song Hye Kyo's perfect facial structure and beautiful features will take your breath away.

Song Ha-Yoon knocked it out of the park with her performance. Sadly its just harder to get recognised for playing negative characters because otherwise she deserves every industry award.

Perfect light comedy in 2 episodes. Recommended.

Agree. Its a blend of Heroes, X-men, Matrix shootout and Eric Bana's Hulk. Doused in kimchi sauce!
