How wonderful to live in Canada. What city? I have been to Vancouver a couple of time.

I lived in Iran for 3 years as a child. I am so glad that I had that experience. Such a difference to living in the West. I hope the rest of the world doesn't become too Westernized as so much would be lost. Though I think unfortunately that is happening already.
I know what you mean about the shadow. I learnt about Jung as a teenager and started learning to be comfortable with looking honestly at my own stuff. I think when one doesn't is maybe when it becomes perverted and out of control. But you are right one doesn't know how one would act until one is in a situation oneself.
I do know though many people in the west who are pretty objective at looking at their parents and not buying into some of the BS that was dished up. Of course then we have to look at our own too. hahaha
take care :)

I have a lot on my plate too and am hoping to be able to tear myself away from watching these so much. They are so addictive!!! But I felt I learnt a lot from watching these dramas. Also there is a sweetness to many of the Koreans that I don't see in Americans or Europeans.
I started watching Starlitelet because I was looking for something to watch on Netflix.
Which I have found to be very difficult as most of the shows were so boring. So when I saw the great reviews for City Hunter I thought to give it a try. And that was it, I was hooked. I recently turned one of my female patients onto K-dramas and now she is hooked to. She told me today that she tries to balance her life by making equal time for American and Korean shows! hahaha As you know I have gone completely to the other side. haha.

I have almost finished watching How to Meet a Perfect Neighbour. I really enjoyed this.
I started watching this for Park Shi Hoo but ended up enjoying just watching all the colourful Korean characters. The more I watch these dramas it seems the more I am appreciating them if they are well acted. For me the quality of the acting seems to be the most important.
So sorry about AGD. That's so disappointing. The story looked really good in the beginning. Hopefully it will pick up.
I don't think I will go back to Big. I finished I do I do. Sorry if I already mentioned that before. I did really enjoy it. What impressed me the most is how her, the main character. was so cool with the CEO's daughter when she was trying to back stab her. Like she understood her struggle and angst. The expression of confusion on the CEO's daughter would always be so funny.

Yes I am enjoying BM again. I love the Korean sense of humour. Ep. 13 when BM descended on the celebrations and the Executor hid under the table and that whole scene had me killing myself with laughter. I find the Korean humour so humble and colourful. Visiting Korea is on the top of my list now.
I did not know that most Koreans don't watch their own dramas. I suppose it gets boring for them as they know their own culture so well.
I really like watching the count and countess too. He is so funny in this. Quite a change for him. The expressions he pulls with his face are unbelievable. hahaha And she has no shame. haha
Thanks so much for explaining about Rie. I missed some I think in the translation. Now it makes sense. She does have some complexity and I hope that that is explored more.
The actress is good.

Oh I forgot to say that I am on ep. 12 now of BM and am beginning to enjoy it again.
Thanks for encouraging me not to give up on it.
Also I thought the scene with Kono Koji and the Executor when they were laughing together about Kimura Taro (a few episodes back) was really funny.

....in order to come down from TPM and watched Prosecutor Princess. haha It was aweful at the beginning but then became good. So now I am only finishing of I do I do and watching Bridal Mask and I will go back to see Dr Jin which I dropped for TPM.
Are you still watching Big? Did he wake up yet?!!
Sending you good vibes. :-)

as he screams bug eyed. It is fun to watch. haha It will be interesting to see if his conscience wins out or not. So I do see why you find him interesting. At least the writer is trying to not write one dimensional characters. I have found in life though that the people who don't have a conscience only really feel bad for themselves. The rest is pretty much pretense. I did a ton of research a couple of years back on NPD, Sociopaths, Borderline, etc.. It helped me to understand a lot better what was going on. Hopefully! haha ;)

That makes sense Starlitelet about the female characters in K Dramas. So I wonder if in Korea the women don't mind underdeveloped female characters? Here in the US I think we want to identify with a woman we can respect or have some understanding for.

Are you still enjoying Gentleman's Dignity? I had to watch something else with Park Shi Hoo in ....

like a fairy tale (childish), but I love fairy tales. haha
Switched at Birth...I did see something written about that. I haven't watched anything american on tv since last October when I discovered KD's. haha
Didn't Chae Hong Joo say in the beginning that she was going to get her revenge on the Japanese? Or was she talking about Koreans? That is what has me confused. I am hoping that she will go through some positive changes. I agree the first I think 7 episodes of BM were phenomenal. It seems to me that Shunji is possessed by the spirit of his dead brother. I'm not sure if I have ever seen a character change so radically. The reason it doesn't make sense to me is that he was shown to be an intelligent and sensitive person before. How could he not know that his father and brother are/were corrupt. He is kind of like a cartoon character now. "Bridal Mask grrrr!" ....

Where do you live Starlitelet? I live in LA. Do you want to visit Vietnam? The pictures of it look just amazing.
I am so glad that you don't mind if we disagree on our taste and I still love to hear your take on characters and dramas. That is great. :)
The story of TPM felt like as if it was one of the greatest classics. And I think that Park Shi Hoo's acting was just amazing. In fact all the actors in this drama were great. Which is kind of unusual. But the emotions that he had to portray were so intense and varied. I wonder if he won an award for that. I just looked it up and he won three awards for it.
So happy for him. Sorry if I have said all this before but I am still in awe of this drama.

Yes I thought that Han Ji Min was kind of sisterly or motherly towards Yoo Chun too! It was weird. It got better towards the end they were more romantic. I agree RTP was .....

they haven't developed the character of Mok Dan enough or maybe she isn't that interesting of an actress. Sometimes in Korean dramas I notice that the female character is underdeveloped. But you said that it starts getting better after episode 11 so I am going to stick with it.

I really enjoy reading your insights too Starlitelet. :) Sorry I am a little tired tonight but I wanted to get back to you. Please don't worry about having to reply quickly. Whenever you have time is wonderful and I appreciate it and enjoy your friendship. All the best to you. I will write more soon. Hugs.

I find most American dramas kind of soulless and boring. I did really like Rooftop Prince.
It was very corny but I loved it. There were a few things that could have been better.
For instance even though I really liked the lead actress I could tell that she wasn't attracted to the lead actor. Also I wished they had developed the characters of the 3 guards more. I thought the episode were the lead actress was stuck in the refrigeration things was kind of boring. But I really enjoyed watching the lead couple. They were both adorable.
I was so excited about Bridal Mask and I am on episode 11 and not really enjoying it anymore. The brother who was killed was such an incredible character and he leaves a big hole in the drama for me. Also I thought the Korean woman from Japan would be a lot more interesting. Also the teacher turning gestapo is for me kind of stupid. Also they .....

Hi Starlitelet, I don't know what NA stands for. Is it a city in Vietnam? I have seen pictures of Vietnam and it looks incredibly beautiful. What is it like growing up and living in Vietnam?

I agree the Korean drama's characters have a lot more depth and are generally a lot more interesting. Korean dramas are also a lot more fun.

I thought the ending of Princess's Man was very good. His going blind was I suppose the only way that he would have felt it okay to stop seeking revenge. Also he did kill quite a few innocent bystanders (with this I mean the guards) with out any thought as to their families etc.. So there had to be some karmic outcome there. I suppose Prince SuYang will get his karma in the next life. It was wonderful to see them happy at the end riding on the horse. It really is the best drama I have ever seen. Thank you again so much.

Once I finish Princess's Man I will get back to Bridal Mask. I am completely into that now and on ep. 20. So now of course I want to watch some of his other dramas. haha.
You were right about Se Ryung. Great character and great actress.
That must be an interesting experience to watch the drama before it is subbed. As then it is a more purely visual experience. hmmmm.

The reason I like I do I do is that I like the acting by the three leads and the father. Even the bad girl and the CEO's wife are really good to watch. Also it is more relaxing for me to have something to watch sometimes were I don't feel so tense because someone is going to die or something like that. Rooftop Prince was like that too because the situations kept being resolved as it went along. I get too tense sometimes with too much conflict. haha. Though of course I will watch it if it's good.

It seems to me that in most of the K dramas when someone is in love they are willing to risk everything. I used to be like that. It didn't work out to well. Hahahaha. An astrologer told me once that I need to be more practical. hahaha.

I couldn't get into Gentleman's Dignity. I didn't like the acting. The story line looked really interesting and good so I was really disappointed. I think I stopped at ep. 3.

.....korean actors. I love how koreans are more self effacing in their humour and passionate about things. I really think I was brought up in the wrong culture. I am a weird mixture. I was born in the US but lived in 4-5 countries by the time I was 5 years old and then kept moving. Mostly Germany, Iran, Ireland and England. I live in the US again now. How about you? Where are you from? :-)

I agree about the her friend in I do I do. She seemed a bit better in the last episode but before that I was wondering why she was considered a best friend!

Starlitelet I want to thank you so much for turning me on to Princess's Man. I don't know if I would have ever watched that. It is the best drama I have ever watched in my life. The story is just incredible. The acting is also some of the best I have ever seen by all the characters. Now of course I am in love with Park Shi Hoo. Thankfully I have watched enough Korean dramas now to know that there are so many gorgeous korean male actors that I do not have to get hung up on one in particular. Haha. I have never been been attracted to actors usually until I started watching K dramas. Haha. I think it is because most white male actors are trying to be too cool. There is such a sweetness and and depth to a lot of the ....

Yeah Mok Dan's friend is kind of whiny isn't she? Has Bridal Mask picked up speed again?

I think I am on ep. 11 or 12 of Princess Man. That is where he is on the island after escaping from drowning. It looks from the previews that he is going to have his hair down from now on which I love!!! I find men with long hair very sexy. hahah

You're right, maybe that group time travelled back and met Kang To, and were inspired by his sexy, free and single bingo style. hahahha.

How are you Starlitelet? I hope well? Thanks for your replies to all my posts. I enjoy very much writing with you. :-)

I stopped watching Big. Did the young guy wake up yet? He was the most interesting of all the characters!!! If he is back I will go back to watch it.

I thought the father in I do I do was so funny in this last episode. When he walked in and took his wig off...., and the toothpaste seen....haha. The doctor is such a crazy guy. I have never seen a character acted quite like that. When he asked her to buy him a vacation trailer for I think keeping his mouth shut .... haha. That was the final stone on the coffin of any chance he had, I think, with regard to his romantic intentions.
