Renascence is good in terms of story, but it fails in execution and character role play. I watched Renascence because I searched dramas of 'Our secret' ML: he was splendid in it but subpar in Renascence.
You watch 'Our Secret' and then take a call.
BTW, 'Our secret' is a school drama, not something I am fond of, but its direction and the characters make it out of its league.

Also, I consider 'You are my glory', which I am struggling to finish, not as good as:

Our Secret
Forever and ever
The Rational life
For the simple reason that Dilrabba (FL) was like a teenager in an adults body. I don't know whether that was expected out of her, but it definitely didn't buy my attention.
Surprisingly, 'You are my glory' is rated higher than the four I mentioned, and the only reason I can think of is either the popularity of both ML & FL played its part or I am a poor judge of the quality of a drama.

Story of Ming Lan is rated 8.9 (an exceptional drama)
You are my glory is rated 8.8 (fans probably will push it higher)
If you find it justified, then we use a different yardstick to judge a drama and you probably might not like the four I mentioned.

If Renascence is in your top 10, then you have not watched enough CDramas in my opinion.

The crux of the matter is.. it was descendants of Sultan Suleiman, who fought and lost against the Russian Queen.
Sorry for the century goof up.

I got the dates mixed up. Sultan Suleiman ruled during 14th century. It was the war in 16th century and henceforth, by his descendants, against the Russians which led to the downfall of Ottoman empire.
Nonetheless, if it wasn't for Russian Queen, current day European countries would also be singing praise of Ottoman rulers.

Don't forget to read how one Russian Queen(if I am not wrong or was it a King?) kicked his butts in the battlefield.

I am glad there was at least one who found it objectionable.
Also, to the fans of Ottoman empire, I would request to read history apart from what is taught in Universities to know about the pre-Ottoman Turkey. One splendid culture was annihilated from the face of the Earth and in just about 500 years, people around the world, including Turkey, admire the person who invaded the ancient, holy land.

I've not watched any of the dramas mentioned in the article so I can't really point out anything in particular but your comment does confound me; as it's beyond my comprehension as to why would someone continue to subject her/him to something she/he does not like in real. On top of that, rate it high after watching and then write an article to underline what all was wrong in the drama/movie you watched. In my opinion, it would give conflicting signals to someone who might be interested in you. To do or not to do... :-)

I completely agree with you on how perfect they are as a couple in the trailer.
I plan to binge watch to avoid prolonged heartbreak.

I believe 'She and her Perfect Husband' comes pretty close to the kind of drama you wished for. It's not out yet.

What about the section of viewers for whom an overwhelming chemistry is worth a thousand kisses? Some get there in early twenties, and others in later stage of life. But we all, with some exception, get there. Watch it when an onscreen kiss does not titillate you anymore.

Minglan gets a lot better from ep 35-56 if you are not averse to a serious drama with formidable adversary. Also, one of the few CDramas with admirable production quality.

If you found 'A Little Thing Called First Love' magical, just like I did, I would recommend 'My ID Is Gangnam Beauty'. An equally enthralling KDrama. I got similar vibes while watching these two.

An animation speaks louder than a voice.. unless one has a vague vision.
