I think there is a bit of that but some of the criticism is valid. The story and acting at times is truly disjointed. Maybe it’s the cuts. The only thing that is keeping me watching is actually the emperor. I think it actually has a fair rating right now.

To be honest that its not a valid reason. Fact is that was the past. They should just focus on their own relationship. What gives Wu Fei the right to go on a revenge mission for a relationship she wasn't involved in. Imagine trying to make your ex's life hell that's insane, instead of enjoying life with your boyfriend/fiancé.

The princess I am referring to is the older princess, she knew the other one was supposed to be with Yi Wu You. She was asking after the older princess. The logic of not asking after the father does not make sense if in the same breath talking about where the older princess is ok(older princess could raise a rebellion yet the father has been dealt with and is dead). Yezi is already starting the show in kind of boss mode, tried to kill emperor already, worked her way up so quickly with no hurdles really, didn't even have to work as a maid.

Yu Xiu Ming did ask her what she spoke about with him, and she used the father as an excuse. Also if she was smart she wouldn't have asked where princess was at the moment and he responded then, because that information could have been overheard. Now the emperor is also suddenly asking her more about the Princess and who she would choose. Its not even clicking to her she might have been followed or overheard when she asked.
I know she is being sold as intelligent, maybe its the editing its just choppy at the moment. FML from Yanxi Palace was better written, is much better than this one at this stage.
I wonder why they did these cuts pple keep talking about. The part where she meets Jie Chu Ying kneeling is way too emotionless. His father helped her a lot to get a better position and all you do is ask where the princess is. Why would they cut any dialogue around that for censorship or is just not a well written story?
Like the actress but not sure about FL’s character. I am all for an intelligent female leads ,but there is something amiss with this one right now.

They must have changed that recently. ML used to be listed as TS that's how I knew he was fake when I was looking for the husband's face, and they used to have the real one listed as GJ. Maybe mdl noticed it was a spoiler in a way.

TS also stated he doesn’t know who he was actually working for since it was his partner’s company who got the client and he said whoever he was working for, knows everything about her, that’s why he was asking who else knows everything about her, she could only think of SW and XY.
Most attorneys do have investigator friends to help with cases.
It’s also implied he knows GJ to the level not to trust him. I don’t think ML knows GJ actually hired him.
