Yeah... XY never thought that Jing loved he enough. At the start, everytime someone brought up whether she missed him or not, she'd say that he was probably having a 'great time with his fiancee.' Even after he'd wanted to die with her she was wondering why he hadn't sent her any gifts and that Jing would have already started his own family.
What will happen in season two, though, after Jing 'dies' she'll realize things a bit more like when she sees her servants flirt with each other and finally understands a little more of his love.

She said she was looking for someone who was more soft-hearted than her. It can't apply to XL because he doesn't have any family so that can't apply. Jing was set up by his family whom he trusted (in this way he's actually so pitiful why can't anyone see that). It came up out of random and how do you even expect someone to have reacted? He had nothing to reject them with because he never raised suspicions with his family. JING DID NOT BETRAY XIAO YAO HE WAS FORCED DUE TO A TRAP. XL does love her of course, but I believe somewhere in the story he knew where he would die and he wants her to be happy. I guess he only started helping them together around the second part of the story. XL certainly had a chance somewhere I remember him asking her if she wanted to leave with him and she agreed but he laughed it off at the end. (She was still mad with Jing at that point) So he could have but he didn't and I'm sure that if XY really wanted to leave Jing would eventually have to let her.

He's not an idiot. He just had his life planned already and he knew he would die. Xiang Liu loves her and thus is why he wants her to be happy with Jing. I read somewhere that Xiang Liu was already planning to take Xiao Yao from the wedding and Jing requesting him to do so was the perfect excuse.
