Yeah doctor's part was totally dumb and ridiculous

Apart from her saying yes to her mother when she asked if she has feelings for him and him confessing he cares for her to Mufeng and small gestures here and there no significant development is shown for their relationship except discussing things on their schemes and as u said they cant explore much with little episodes left,
At an earlier episode when FL was pffering her and he said he was never a gentleman i had hopes that romance part will not fall short, but no he remains a gentleman not showing any sign of attraction
hmm it s loss in the romance dept of this series

Yeah someone poison him already, i cant tolerate that sewer rats whisper talks , fake timid actions, and manipulation who cares justice if they can avoid innocent deaths by his hands ,by assassinating him at once

I havent seen any of his previous works but what you are saying is so apparent in the last three episodes , he is rather seem expressionless with only few episodes left i dont think thats going to change,
I suppose this ML might do good just in action scenes
