I think this drama is made more for people who are into war dramas and shows it's really old, I don't know if I'm going to watch more - finished episode 1 barely -
if you're interested in watching this drama - this is the only available link I found: http://www.veoh.com/watch/v281779W6frh5H6?h1=Eyes+of+Dawn+Episode+1 (it will probably ask you if you're over 18 as there is some "mature" content) - here is a review I found off of a site to give you a better picture of what you may see -
A masterpiece
Some months ago, I read a comment about Eyes of Dawn - something about it being a classic or must-watch. So when I saw it advertised on Yesasia with English subs (!!), I knew I had to get it. I had no idea of the story but I've always been interested in historical dramas. The first episode surprised me because it dealt with something I had never seen in Korean dramas - comfort women. The scenes were very disturbing but gripping. This was not an easy drama to watch but it was worth every minute of my time. Starting with the Pacific war (1940s) and ending with the Korean War (1950s), the drama follows the lives of three Koreans: a comfort woman (Yeo Ok) and two Korean students (Dae Chi and Ha Rim) who are conscripted against their will into the Japanese Imperial Army. There are scenes of human experiments and tortures; the drama does not try to cloak the atrocities of the war. That's why I say it is not an easy drama to watch. You will witness scenes of great cruelty but also immense courage. The love 'triangle' in the drama is beautiful and so much more meaningful than what I've seen in most Korean dramas. There are many familiar faces in Eyes of Dawn. It is truly an amazing cast. The acting is superb. Although the drama is 'old' (1991), it is way better than recent dramas. I was also pleasantly surprised by the excellent English subtitles. After watching Eyes of Dawn, I have started to read more about Korea's history during World war 2 and the Korean War. The drama not only touched me but it taught me things I had never been aware of before. It is truly a fantastic drama and deserves to be called the best Korean drama of all time!
keep in mind - that is not my review - it is a review I found from someone on Yesasia
this girl has gone plastic surgery or botox crazy - I've seen her on several shows (never liked her character) but on Golden Cross her face is so "puffy" it must be botox - it doesn't look good....
seriously, why did they have to change him? he was perfect the way he was! I hate arrogant people and that is exactly how they made him now (even if it's a cover) - it still irks me - and there are ONLY 4 episodes left - why the heck would you change him now?!!!!! >_<
ok, I officially HATE episode 16 >_< the end REALLY? they even brought Sa Ra into this? a love triangle? DISGUSTING and definitely NOT what I EVER wanted to see! so MAD!!!!! >_< starting to wonder if I should ditch this drama...never thought I'd say that....but episode 16 seriously - it turns my stomach - I literally feel sick - where the heck did my Do Yun that I loved go? now he's some rich playboy and jerk? Writers you just messed up this drama... (if you were going to do that you should have just ended this drama at 16 episodes - and not brought any of this crap into it....
I was really hoping for something intense and action like for the 16th episode - after what 15 left me with I thought that's what I had in store coming, I didn't know I'd get this....crap....I am Very bored right now..... 15 was SO good - and16 is such a let-down...
I agree with your review - Mars is the first T-drama I had ever watched (back in 2009) and I loved every minute of it - I bought it on dvd (believe me it took me forever to find it) and I've watched it 2-3x's since - Vic Zhou had become one of my favorite Taiwanese actors after watching this drama too
