My theory about how Shin Jae is Yi Gon's doppelganger seems more and more likely with episode 7... But it is really creepy if that is the case because that means Yi Rim somehow changed his life from his appereance to his family... :/

I am looking forward to watch friday's episode, we will discuss ot it when the times comes !

On a more serious note, I suppose I am on the " negative " comments side for now but my opinion can still change and if I am still watching it : it's because I feel potential in this drama and I am supporting actors (and because I am bored too ).
I must clarified if actually someone cares haha : If I comment even negatively it is not to annoy anyone. I just want to share my opinion because I love to discuss about a drama; to share opinions and feeling or even ideas of what could happen. I will always try to do constructive criticism and I will never tell "I don't like it" without a reason to explain it.

Did someone see " Cast of The King: Eternal Monarch tells us what they really think of each other " ? It was so sweet and hilarious to see Woo Do Hwan, Jung Eun Chae, Kim Min Ho and Kim Go eun teasing Kim Kyung Nam about his picture ! And they were always choosing him when they were asking a question haha

So far what I don't understand/love are :

1..The romance between the main leads

" Does the 25 years ' wait because of a picture make a couple ! Like really ! She isn't even his savior ! "

Exactly what I am thinking all along I just don't understand... I tried to pu myself in his shoes because I thought I was missing something : if I was a kid and someone saved me from my evil uncle and even if I would have seen her face clearly and I was sure she was my savior.....I would be grateful to her okay but not already have a crush on her + As a kid I think that would have been more believable if he saw her like a big Sis at first but after their encountered love would have blossom.

I think that's why I prefer the cliché hate/love relationship because at least there is a real evolution between the characters, here it seem really precipitate. I would have loved if for example they were already together in the other world but she died and when he saw her in this world he hugged her because he was happy to see her alive again but not because he fantasized about her for years...

Something that is really terrifying me is I saw a lot of comments saying : " Yes but he is handsome and rich so it is normal for the girl to fall for him, I would if I was in her case"
To me it would definitely be NO even if the guy was my type and rich : he comes out of nowhere, hug you without permission and touch you a lot of time without permissions by the way when he doesn't want to be touch himself, is talking about how he is a king in another dimension and you saved him without showing you proof and ask you to follow him in a forest at night.... Yes because he is handsome ? I know it is a drama but I know there are people too who would really do that in real life because they think it is okay.

+ I am sure it is not even the girl who saved him (pretty sure it is Shin Jae, he seems to have the same handle and slim hands with veins ) and even if that is proved right Yi Gon would still be obsessed with Tae Eul for whatevers reason.

2. The blank expressions from most of the actors when I know they are good actors

A lot of time I just can't read their expressions or there aren't expression at all to begin with. It is so strange because of that I feel like half the characters are just robots reciting their lines and it bugs me because I know it is not a problem of bad acting...

3. Real charismatic and interesting characters have not so much screen-time...

I don't have much to say about it all is in the title ( and I noticed I wrote already haha)

I hope the drama will show me that I am wrong and I hope the second half will be interesting.

So far what I am liking :

Some characters, potential interesting story and potential interesting realtionships/bromance/sismance between alter egos and how it is filmed sometimes.

Exactly ! The game of seduction is really important I don't understand why they make the king so clingy/powerful/full of himself. I will not comment further more because you resumed what I am thinking !

I think the same too so when Seon Jae and Yeon Ho will be around the same age they will remember + they will have sweet childhood memories too

Je pense que c'est pour ça que je n'accroche pas trop au Roi, car il semble trop narcissique et prend les autres pour des pigeons tout le temps. Il aime quand les autres sont ses petits robots comme Yeong quand il a vu son alter ego il lui faisait faire les course ect. Pour moi Eun Sub semble plus épanouis dans sa vie que Yeong .

Je n'aime vraiment pas quand Yi Gon touche Tae Eul tout le temps sans permission ça me met vraiment mal à l'aise ( mais bon je suppose que comme c'est un "beau " garçon et qu'il est Roi il peut tout se permettre) ....Le baiser m'a aussi semblait très forcé car ils étaient chez le Roi alors je pense que la fille n'a pas osé l'envoyer paître + elle avait encore beaucoup chose à accepter après tout elle venait à peine d'arriver dans une autre dimension.

C'est énervant aussi car on voit en parallèle Yi Rim, qui je trouve est beaucoup plus charismatique, se préparer à prendre le pouvoir et ce depuis des années pendant que Yi Gon se balade et se trouve une petite copine. Si Yi Gon et Tae Eul ont une fin tragique ils ne peuvent s'en prendre que à eux-même vraiment.

Détective Shin Jae est aussi très intéressant et je trouve que son lien avec Tae Eul est beaucoup plus touchant alors je ne comprends pas pourquoi elle n'est pas tombé sous son charme plus tôt... Parce qu'il est pauvre et "moins" beau peut être ? ça me ferait bien rire si Shin Jae se révèle être le sauveur de Yi Gon voir même son alter égo...

I want to see captain Yeon's reaction when he will see his other self has kids and a wife !

Lol I am not the only one to think " Stop dating now you know your evil uncle is perhaps alive find him and beheads him ! "

I have really the second lead syndrome, I find Shin Jae so much more interesting ! I want to know what are his bad dreams about already... I really feel like the plot is dragging. And I still don't understand why Yi Gon is so much in love with Tae Eul when it is perhaps even not her who saves his ass. I have a feeling it is Shin Jae and if that is really the case he will continue to act with him codly because he is a man ( sexist logic of Kdramaland )

I think Sung Joon takes the cure one year later that's why in front of his brother's photo he said " I am fine now " ^^ Frankly I thought at the end the two brothers would die in order to let the little girl live. I was already imagining a scene where they were dying next to each other. I am glad to see Sung Joon survives but I am sad how Sung Hoon was all alone until the end even when he died but he took the right choice at the end :)

I think the drama was so-so until the second half because it was frustrating to see Sung Joon always hit for something he hasn't done or to see the dramafocus on the kidnapping and nothing really move on (a lot of time they could have saved the little girl but they always failed...).
The second half was much better because a lot of things was revealed and the characters really grown on me especially because the actors played hyper good even the younger ones !

Yes I feel like it is him too from the second episode. Either he saw the royal symbol because he met the uncle (that's why at first I thought he was Yi gon other self but somehow the uncle changed his name/face/family ) or either he was in the King's dimension perhaps when he was little but end up in the other dimension.

The way the drama always shows him eating sweets will be an hint later on I think because now I am wondering if he is not linked by blood with Yi Rim. That wouldn't even suprise me if this scumbag uses his son for his schemes.

Anyway I have really the feeling Yi Rim will try to manipulate him (perhaps he will try to trade with him like the other one with the " you can take the place of the other you " or something like that but I think Shin Jae will not fall for it. We saw him for example refusing shady money.

In the last episode the uncle was talking about how a typhoon can be even more dangerous if we don't see it coming and when he said that we saw Shin Jae's photo on the screen and I don't think it is by chance.

I will be honest I am easily into K-dramas even if the story sucks, if at least I like some characters I can watch it until the end just to know what will happen to them. That's why this drama is the "tiring"- type for me because I don't really like the main couple and the story is messy BUT I like secondary characters and the villain + I have not really others dramas to watch after the very good 365: repeat the year (I am awaiting " Train " too whitch is also about dimensional's stories it must be the theme this year) so I am sticking with it.

It is really one of the rare drama where I am feeling potential but at the same time I know I will be dissapointed each episodes but I am still here because I am bored and stupid...

Like you said High Quality but dead inside. It is missing the soul in it. I had the same feelings with others kdramas writting by the same screenwriter and I thought I had a problem because a lot of people seemed to enjoy it.

I think I would have rather appreciate if Yi Gon knew Luna in his world and they were lover but she died so he was happy to see her again in another dimension...(Yes it is totally Train's story lol) . At least give a good reason behind his clingy behaviors, I have the impression he is seeing others people as his property all the time and that is bothering me when himself he doesn't like to be touch...
Okay he has a reason because he thinks Tae Eul saved him when he was little but it is not so sureactually. I am still thinking it was Shin Jae somehow and If that is the case I am pretty sure he will continue to be a jerk to him because Shin Jae is a guy (That reminds me Meow the secret boy where the main guy was helped by the girl when he was little but in fact saved by the guy but he was still cold toward him...)

And the characters who are actually interesting have not so much screen-time I want to know what are Shin Jae's dreams and It is intereset to see Eun Sub with the kids than the main romance...

Yes I think it is the only drama where a season 2 can be so much interesting if with the same cast of course ! The characters have so much evolved and the story is so deep !! I want to see Hwa Pyung with his fully recovered power and his badass look he gains at the end fighting demons/spirits with Mateo and Gil Young !! I would love to see Yook Gwang too in ghost state making fun of Hwa Pyung lol

Yes I think you're right he could totally use him to replace the king ! In that case I don't think he has changed the other Lee Gon's face. But it is kind of dangerous for him because it is still another Lee gon and it would be shocking to see this Lee Gon controlled by Lee lim. I feel like Lee lim isn't the kind of character taking that kind of risks, he wants to control everything.

There is something I didn't understand in episode 1 : Lee lim killed again his brother in the alternate dimension. The wife identified his body and was happy of his death and it seemed her husband was abusing her. So if that is the case the alternate person can be totally different in personality because I don't think the king was abusing his wife in the other dimension (Captain Jo Young and Jo Eun Sub are not the same too).

And the wife said " Now I can leave with Lee Gon out of this shitty place " or something so I don't think she knew about her son's death. But just after that the evil Lee Lim suprised her told her she is happy when she knows her husband and son are dead ? I am a bit lost sorry if I am not clear

My crazy theorie :

I have a feeling the alternate Yi Gon is not really dead and either he is linked to Detective Gang Shin Jae either Detective Gang Shin Jae himself is the other Yi Gon. That would exaplin why they like the same girl and why he recognized the emblem because he saw the uncle from the other world. And they said too he had bad dream and it is perhaps from his trauma childhood. His mother in the alternate universe knows Yi Him so that wouldn't suprised me if he changed the face/name of the kid and make him grew up with bad people for his revenge or something.

But at the same time I find this theorie completely crazy because the uncle could have just killed the kid and the actors seem not to have the same height...

So I gave it a try and for now I don't hate it but I am no fond of it too. I think it is because I am more concern by Captain Jo Young / Jo Eun Sub and Detective Gang Shin Jae but we don't see much of them.
