I told her about this script and she went back to read it. afterwards, she really liked it so she told me that she wanted to do it together with me!
when I first met lusi, she was only a 19/20 years old girl. she was very adorable and she basically portrayed a role that was natural to herself (gu shengnan in dating in the kitchen)
but for this time round, there were two main reasons why I wanted to work with her
firstly, her matured acting skills. of course, when it comes to an actor, their acting skills will always have to be the most important thing.
to be recognised, she would want to portray many different roles. this role (xu yan) would give her that space to become a very different zhao lusi
secondly, her passion. being passionate wouldn't necessarily mean that you have great acting skills . sometimes, passion will only give you the love for acting but you'll still need to keep refining your acting skills. your acting skills might not improve just because you have the passion too
but when there is love in your eyes, and when you have love for dramas, your eyes won't lie. that is what differentiates between actors
