"I first met her in person in the variety show, the fairy tales (2023). my strongest impression of her was when she shared a story of her past. back then, I thought, "woah, she's such an authentic person. so genuine. her words touched my heart. I felt that I've had a similar past experience, just like her.
so when I knew that I was going to film with lusi, I didn't even have to think... I definitely wanted to collaborate with her! to me, people of the same type (beliefs) are very important. her expectation for every scene is very high. if she felt that the scene didn't "make sense", she would discuss it with the director. as long as you manage to persuade her, she's "very okay" and she does have flexibility. but if you're unable to convince her, then you can't.
I also noticed how she was very busy with other activities while filming this drama. I'll see her dancing and singing performance on the hot search. so I thought, woah if one doesn't have that mentality and quality — having to get things done well... (it's impossible)
because I asked her too, "it's so exhausting for you, are you able to withstand it?" and she replied me, "there's no other choice. I made a promise so I have to fulfil it and get it done well"

of course, I know that there are many remarkable costume designers and make up artists. but I still wanted to say, that it is through how I feel as an actress that I know what I should be wearing for each particular scene. when xu yan isn't supposed to look glamorous, she shouldn't appear glamorous. when she's supposed to be dazzling, she should look dazzling!
it's also my first time attempting contemporary chinese style. there's also an arc when my character was involved in intangible cultural heritage. I think that's very significant and it will introduce many younger people to this kind of handcrafted items made from the yi ethnic group. I think it's a marvellous thing! so I was searching for those accessories everywhere, including buying cloths to make costumes. many costumes that I'm wearing in the show are handmade so you probably won't be able to find them anywhere on the internet.
since before the start of filming, I've been preparing for my character's wardrobe. I have a personal stylist too so she'll help me to acquire those outfits that I'll like. I'll also have to make considerations of the differences in her costumes in the before and later parts of the story.
