Only the first 5 episodes released, You can watch it yourself and judge it. TbH, in almost every C-dramas the first 10 episodes are always kinda boring including ashes of love, eternal love,LAR, or ancient love poetry... so, we need to give it some times for story development.
And God and Goddess have thousands years of life span.
So, i am not sure why you said Yang Zi is too old for her role? Do you know how old is her character right now?

IMO: CGI is good enough,comparable with others
