Yep it doesn't follow the manga. Chang ge was more smarter in the manga and there was even lesser romance between the leads than shown in the drama. A lot of people talk about the romance as if it's the focus of this drama lol. The second female lead's character was also not in the manga. A lot of manga readers were not happy with the drama adaptation.

I'm so curious to see who gets finally casted in this. I hope they suit the novel characters and actors won't get too much hate

Others use IG regularly. It's not confirmed if they post themselves or not but they have contracts to post for their brands at times. Reba used to be more active during Louis Vuitton era. Her team just doesn't focus on her international popularity.
Her dramas are not on Netflix worldwide. None of her dramas are available on my Netflix.
And fengjiu is one of her most popular characters loved both by international and domestic audiences. Of course there will be people who dislike such characters but that's for all xianxia dramas then. Not specifically her character or her performance. Unless of course they are haters.
I also hope her upcoming dramas will be available on Netflix GLOBALLY.

I think it was about the availability of English subs that the drama didn't do that well internationally. They made eng subs available much later but by then some already had watched it with no subs or machine subs so there wasn't much discussion on it. It's funny cause youku never did this to another drama. I feel like Reba is just unlucky when it's about international promotion. If you are my glory was on Netflix global or if she used her IG regularly etc.

Have you seen historical cdramas where characters wear blond wigs and colored contacts? It's not very common. I have only seen black and white pictures of the manga and Changge looks very much like Dilraba who is playing her. Even the mole on their eye matches. I haven't seen people complain about the hair and eye color. I think they just expected it to be black since it's a cdrama.
