Totally understandable there. I’m glad we are seeing the ML with vulnerabilities. Not just made out of iron like they’re supposed to be in some dumb stereotype. We see a gentle soul getting hurt, feeling down and all the other negative emotions that a human being is supposed to feel. He’s got a crappy father, his career is being called into question and the girl that he really likes can’t communicate to save her life. She has seen him and his personality completely different from her ex so absolutely hold her accountable. He has a right to feel hurt and upset. And he’s also got an ex-girlfriend that hurt him. We can’t have these types of situations where everyone holds the leads to different standards. The FL can feel hurt because of an ex, she can feel confused and everything else while the ML has to be stand up and perfect and no emotions but supporting her? Bullshit. It’s a relationship; or the start of one. It’s gotta be 50-50 or it doesn’t work. Stop making the FL weak and allowed pain and the ML always strong and perfect because in reality that that’s not how it is at all.
You know, even though the little student’s intentions were not pure what she said wasn’t far off. Either make yourself understood or don’t lead a person on. So her point was actually understandable, even though for her own good and no one else’s and she did say it rather nastily.
This little bit of angst was needed to clear all doubts and for Xifan to fully let go of her trauma from her past…

I understand completely that from the first relationship that she was in for a very long time, she was very traumatized, but I think that communication is key in the situation and I’m very glad her best friend was the one who cleared the air to make them both understand. He’s got his own baggage of a crappy father and what not. I think she needs to figure out that HSY and her ex are two completely different men and not lump them together even if she is afraid. And he’s given her all the security in the world already and they haven’t even dated.
I’m also super glad that he told his little student where to go and not to have delusions of anything. To mind her own business. This is the type of man that doesn’t beat around the bush.
