Exactly even though he had a lot of shortcomings, he knew how to express gratitude properly. He knew how to respect people as he got older, he got to his position at his job through his hard work and not through cutting corners and plagiarism and BS. He was good at making good friends and colleagues when he became an adult. There’s not even a comparison between him and prick here.
