Depends on the show. If a certain plot takes up an entire season and is evolved properly; it really can. If the audience is invested in the characters for example.
Sharing a personal observation: After watching only American shows for years where you get 1 episode once a week and you're totally cool with that; c-drama land is a whole different animal lol. Now (as in the last 2.5 yrs) I'm like "2 episodes ONLY 3 days a wk; what's wrong w/you ppl??" 🤣🤣🤣

I watched that series too and I loved it but one has zilch to do with another. Every drama is a separate and unique experience or at least should be. Having that much hate towards actors just because it's not fitting some fan's BS agenda is just childish. Weirdest thing is, they're all acting like someone put a gun to their heads to watch this. But nope, didn't.
I saw the first 8 episodes yesterday and they were great! Awesome chemistry btwn leads, a great story/plot that's relatively easy to follow along, nice costumes, great martial arts, CGI. By the end of episode 4, you sort of know who the players are. It's moving along at a nice pace.
I like it, many like it. It's ok not to like it, what's not ok is this toxic behavior of bashing actors. It's pathetic and sophomoric. Like leave, why are you here if you hate it so much? Common sense really is uncommon nowadays.

I haven't watched today's episodes yet; previews look cute. Seems she's not all that willing to embrace her Princess background either; or doesn't remember it. That needs to be explored more.

Someone here was saying that another Allen Ren firefighter drama was released by Youku and also not subbed; so clearly either they ran out of money to pay their subbers or Alibaba forgot to pay them. I won't put anything past them at this point. The original rumor for overseas drop was April 22nd; whether that's true or not will only be confirmed by Croton or a release. Either or, we'll see 🤷🏻♀️.
