Same novelist/screenwriter for that and also 7 relics.
Oh, I 100% agree. They are 20 years behind the fiends when it comes to modernization. That final battle was just so lackluster because you had five fiends to contend with two in their original forms that were OK, I understand hard to kill and then three in their human forms but because they were stronger you had hunters that hadn’t hit the gym in 20 years. They didn’t have modern equipment even their hammers came from like the 1970s. There were so many issues with the fact that they had regular lives and then when it was time to patrol or to handle this they came back. But there was no like upgrade to their entire group. The rituals I honestly didn’t mind but they had to do more than just rituals. They had to use modern equipment because they were in the modern world, this is not 20 years ago. That’s why that battle even though there were more hunters than fiends was such a massacre. Even though all the villains were killed even the non-human ones the cost was absolutely insane. Plus you had the Earth demons, which were the hunters when they were infected and didn’t get the natural fire or whatever it’s called in time so they exiled themselves, but a lot of them lost their consciousness so they couldn’t tell friend from foe as XS explained, even though he was the one who called them to help so they ended up taking out most of the extra hunters that didn’t have names on top of the other fees and things. And Jiang knew about them, but never told the group and XS read about it from the book and didn’t tell the group until there were maybe 10 of them left. They couldn’t even handle a fight without getting the shit beat out of them because they were just not strong enough. The writers just made it very hard for the good guys to win. They needed FL‘s mother to decapitate the main villain to win, and only after her daughter was harpooned with a sword.
Lots of plot holes; hence things were all over the place.
Jiang killed the guy who used the fan to kill SQ but got himself killed because the fiend’s crossbow was loaded and it fired as he died. Mom killed LXR and put her into the membrane and he ripped it open burning his hands to get her out, meanwhile next frame, his hands are just fine. Very messy, agreed. These sci-fi or outside her usual box series are new for her. She usually does the modern or costume drama pretty roles. That’s her comfort zone.
I’m on 9; so she betrays his trust by telling a teacher something he confided in her and she’s pissed off? Really? I’m sure she was little miss perfect in school. He should have told her the abuse his friend suffered at the hands of his dad and all that. Then she proceeds to ignore him. And he gets sick because he waits for her to pick him up even though she’s told him to come home himself? Poor kid is worried but she’s too busy being mad.
I too am getting tired of the doctor guy. It’s obvious she’s not interested but he’s got to read the room. Wonder if by the halfway point he’ll confess. Because most of the previews and trailer is of them together in the present; with a lot hiding from her mom comedy. And lots of kissing among other things. I just don’t want their actual relationship story to not be rushed.

Agreed. That last battle was brutal because the good guys were 20 years behind the times; couldn't even take on two non human and 3 human fiends without sacrificing themselves, getting ambushed or getting the shit beaten out of them. Sad and cringey to watch.
Well, I've got a title for my review, but it's definitely not going to be written today. I can see a lot of folks are putting theirs down. My OCD self is trying not to make myself nervous. My brain is still all over the place with that final fight and how to word everything correctly. Did they still stick the 10K limit on the review or have they taken that off yet?
On another note, for those who have watched this, I have a small review about what felt like a plot hole to me.…
Bingo! I feel the exact same way. They hadn't trained in 20 years; everything was outdated and they were at a severe disadvantage which is why the final battle looked so out of whack. They weren't even physically strong to take on the human fiends let alone their non human counterparts. Like when was the last time any of them went to a gym? It's like YT knew how strong fake Lin was because she lifted him off the ground with one hand when he was locked in the house but he used the tranq gun like a bat? I mean really? He couldn't shoot her? She disarmed him in under 3 seconds and shot him instead. Made no sense. There was so much of that. Uncle Jiang knew about the earth demons but never told the hunters and XS only read half of it from a book but never studied further to know they would take out their own brethren. Everyone was waiting for a serious battle because of the build up and we got that?!? My mind is still there. The writers did put the hunters at a serious disadvantage by making them not modernized like their enemy was. They could have used Mad Blade's blood to make real bullets with real guns, so much could have been adapted. I have no idea how I'll be able to write this review with so many plot holes.
Just watched 29th episode and i don't feel too good about it. Wdym all of them feinds and hunter died like that?…
Final fight was underwhelming because hunters weren't strong enough not training so all of that happened but the rest of the episodes sans her selective amnesia are good.
