I see that’s understandable. Especially if you think that person is gonna mess up your work, it’s best to just ban it. I’m sad that there are not that many great storyteller, like Jin Yong anymore. He was my all time fav Chinese novel writers. I also liked Gu Long style of writing. Anyway, I won’t be greedy. I’ll just be grateful for what we already have. Every once in a while, I get bored and just go back and watch or read their old stuff. 💛😊

Wuxia happens to be my 2nd favorite genre in Cdramas. I am sad that it’s seems like it’s dying art, because there are not many great martial art directors now. The last good wuxia I watched that was good, was the Side Story of Fox.

I remember watching Who Rules the World, the first half the martial arts was decent, but then the fighting director quit halfway through, so the rest fighting scenes was crap. Sighs. 😭☹️ Even with so much advance technology (CGI) they can’t make it work. Breaks my heart. 💔

I heard that the Mysterious Lotus Casebook is supposed to be good, and even though I like Cheng Yi & Joseph, I don’t like CDL so I can’t start it. I know people had told me just to fast-forward her parts, but I’m still debating if I should watch it. I keep hoping and praying, that there would be good Wuxia dramas in the future. I would be so sad if Wuxia faded away died forever. 😞

I thought she looked better with less makeup. But then after I read the novel, I kind of understood it better, the reason why she might have a lot of makeup on. As there was a passage in the novel that says that she prefers to wear heavy makeup. So maybe they’re trying to copy that part of the novel, into the drama. I remember this passage, because she was meeting the young prince, and she didn’t use a lot of make up. And the ML liked it and wondered why she didn’t wear less makeup before.

Usually, Jiang Taohua wore makeup in the household, making her appear very vibrant. Today, however, her face was clean and fresh, and her dress was elegant and proper, looking very much like the girl next door.

Jiang Taohua’s features were naturally soft and pure, pleasant to look at, and approachable. But she often preferred heavy makeup. While still beautiful, the thick makeup was like wearing a mask, always keeping people at a distance.

After looking at her for a while, he couldn’t help but ask, “Why don’t you dress like this normally in the household?”

“Does my lord like it?” Taohua was surprised. “Don’t all you men prefer women with makeup? All those poems about ‘lightly biting rouge-stained lips’ and ‘cheeks brushing fragrant brows’ were written by men, weren’t they?”

In the novel shes 18 and he’s 26 if I recall correctly. I remember a passage, where the FL tells her maid, that she thinks that the ML is the Prince‘s (he is 16) father, but the maid says that is impossible, because the ML would have be 10 years old, when the prince was born.

Sighs, sometimes I wish they would just leave the classics alone. It gets worse and worse by the remake. ●︿●

Honestly, the old TVB drama’s were good. I know the CGI sucked, but the storytelling and acting was good. Even now the remakes cannot surpass the originals.

I think you’re the only one that I know, that likes and sympathies with YK character as much as I do. 🙂 Speaking of bad father daughter chemistry, in the 2024 version of LOCH, Zhou Yi Wei & Bao Shang En chemistry was so bad it PMO. Grrrrrr, I wish they would stop making remakes it keeps getting worst. 😡😕

Funny that you say that, Mt Deer was also my first drama with a harem theme. I recall thinking this is a crazy concept, a person with so many wives. 🫣🤣I never watched the Jordan version. Actually, I don’t even recall watching any dramas starring Jordan, that I can remember. However, I do remember watching all of his movies with Ekin (Young and Dangerous Series). 🥰

I feel the same way with Mt Deer, the concubines drove me crazy, I only remember loving the bromance arc of that drama. Now that I think about it, you’re right Yingluo is the female version of WXB. 🤣 I like the way she always outsmarted the king. WXB was exactly that way too. I haven’t read SSS or JOL novels, I only watched the dramas, but I did remember loving both of those drama. Now that you said that the novels have harems arcs to it, I might go read the books. Thanks for bringing it up. You gave me a “the more you know” moment. 🌈⭐️

Btw, agree with you about GJ too. His character was so vanilla to me. I remember reading the LOCH novels with my friends, and they all really loved GJ the most, out of all the characters. But my favorite was always Huang Rong, her father Huang Yaoshi, Hong Qigong, Zhou Botong and lastly Yang Kang (in that order).

I still remember fighting with my girlfriends, when they were like why do I like YK? He’s like the worst character. And of course it’s true. He’s a bad person, but something about his circumstances, made me feel a little bad for him. You can see how conflicting it was for him at times, to choose between good and bad. I kept thinking only had a better chance at life, with a better stepdad, his outcome would have been different. Secretly, inside I was rooting for him to become good. 💔☹️

PS, I’m also biased, so I could just be saying this because I love Micheal Miu portrayal of YK. 😂🤗 I think God even heard my prayers, because Michael played Huang Yaoshi in the 2017 version. I thought I won the lotto. It’s like buy one get one free. Two of my favorite characters in one. I was so happy. He did such a great job too. Can’t believe he’s still hot after all those years (2nd best HYS in my book) . Please don’t judge me. 🤣

Haha, I didnt know you like reading too. I love reading (major bibliophile here). Books are my most favorite thing ever (I even like it more than watching dramas). We have so much in common. Hello, my love. 😍 how are you doing? How do you like this drama so far? I thought that the LOCH trilogy was Jin Yong’s most popular series. I didn’t know that The Deer was the most popular one. I’m happy though, because I really enjoyed that drama. The only issue I have with that drama, is I only liked the Andy version. I’ve seen a couple of other versions, but they weren’t that good (Dicky & Huang Xiao Ming Version).☹️

And when u say SSS, are you referring to Sword Snow Stride? As I can recall that drama was all about adventure, I don’t remember it being about a harem (it’s probably because it’s been so long and I can’t remember much about it). Its too bad the drama didn’t show it, cause I would've like to watch that adaptation. I know this is a unpopular opinion, but I actually like harem dramas. And I’m sad that SARFT, started censoring those type of dramas (after Yanxi Palace fiasco). That’s why there’s no longer that many harem dramas, that have chaotic concubine arcs. 😭😭😭 I miss dramas like Ruyi and Empresses in the Palace.

That was my favorite version. And I haven’t finish litchi yet. I still have a couple of episodes left.
