If it helps in an interview PGY said you will get the answer you seek with regard to whether there is a happy ending or not for the main leads. CWJ also said different people had different interpretations of the ending so it makes me think it was shot in a way that is ambiguous and leaves you to draw your own conclusion.

I am genuinely sad that this drama is almost over… I hope the main leads collaborate again but even if that happens, it will still be some time before we see the final product.

I am loving how open and honest he is! RZZ is starting to be more open and honest again with him too, bit by bit. It’s really heartening to see.

Based on interviews I’ve seen with the main leads I think the kiss scene in the sun is the last scene too and the ending is ambiguous enough that we can interpret what happens according to our own desires, hopes, etc.

There is a part in ep. 33 (around 7:41) when Su Wen tells RZZ that she watched RZZ’s surveillance video and saw that ML’s name is Tan Shen. I agree it’s a little unclear whether TS actually does not know that GJ hired him. I think he may not know (yet) because in an earlier episode (ep. 29 around 27:35) Xiao Wu told TS the client information in this case is highly classified, the boss is keeping a close eye and not more than 3 people have access to the information, so she’s not able to get that intel.

Yes! I think that’s right. I don’t think there was an original novel, seems like the series was from an original screenplay that is now being made into a book.
