Why they didnt they make this kind of love story anymore? Something with actual substance aside from this great love story between 2 people who are devoted to each other.

I think you might missed some details in the show. She cant speak due to trauma and that trauma was healed when she spent her time at the mansion and we see how it too when they show flashbacks of her time there. And she was sent there to heal the bad blood between the family. And she cant be trained to be generals like the others girls since her destiny is to marry the Crown Prince. Thats why ML reluctan to accept her as well initially and was confused on how he should teach her.
There is a development for both ML and FL. Except, after going through that development, made them more responsibled and self sacrificing since there are always bigger things than romantic love.
That is why this drama is great since we can see the continuiation in Forever and Ever when there is no longer the bigger picture they have to consider, they live the 2nd life for themselves this time around and fully loved and devoted to each other.
