I think Mo Ran felt the same way initially, but later on, as XZL and Madam Wang treated him so well, and Xue Meng despite being a peacock, even gave him sweets...Mo Ran felt that he should do everything he could to repay their kindness for this good fortune in his life...

Even later on, Mo Ran considered losing them as losing his family, making him feel like he was all alone in the world...like he was never blessed with a family or close ones in his lifetimes...

The guilt of having destroyed your whole family and being Emperor TXJ... I can't imagine living with that kind of pain 😞
