Couples that refuse to stay within the boundaries of conservative patterns, that don't allow the others decide for themselves have always been my favourite in novels, movies or dramas. And creative, contemporary dialogues are what I look for in a good script.
Usually Koreans are very very good at using supernatural themes by making them fairytale-like. I do love many of them. However dramas that are based on romance & relationships are very often too conservative. That's why I fancy Encounter a lot: it is absolutely not one of them.
I consider 'Encounter 'and 'Memories of the Alhambra' as two precious year-end gifts.

Actually those comments are more than surprising. this is my profession; I teach and write in this field. And even the pace of the drama is rather well calculated. A very meticulous drama that is full of out of cliche components, different from usual Korean patterns in many ways.I enjoy every minute of it just like you.

Courage looks marvellous on any woman... I love the unconventional flow and dialogues of this drama a lot. 5th episode was a very delicious one.

I can hardly wait for Wednesday. Whenever I see a drama couple that genuinely like each other, that have mutual respect, that try to support one another through the difficulties of life, that have fun when they’re together, I enjoy watching their romance regardless of their appearance, age, financial status etc.
When two people are happy when they are together, I am happy to view them (as long as they don’t harm anyone of course).
If the writer makes me excited and wonder what will happen next, then it is a good drama for me.
While watching Encounter I see a couple I enjoy watching very much and a good drama that I like.

that is how I think as well.

I think this drama keeps its promise: it seems a very good example of its genre.

now we're talking... excitement knocked at the door! it was a very nice episode.

It's possible of course; but why don't they wait and see, till they capture all components of that drama, at least till the half way? maybe till 8th, 9th episode? It seems unfair to me.

First 'Something In The Rain' review here that I share similar perspective. I liked it very much and felt somehow relieved.

I wasn't expecting something innovative or deep in meaning at first. I really enjoyed initial episodes, considered it as a familiar girly piece. But it's getting really awful. Hope that it won't become very unlucky 'coming back choice' for Yoon Eun Hye in the end.

I find it very interesting to score a drama when it has just begun. There're only two episodes behind, we have no idea how it will develop etc. The score goes down every day. Hard to understand why without any new episodes being aired. Interesting.

Sure. I just wanted to say that you might find the couple here let's say weird, someone else finds great. That's why I said our tastes could be different. My intention was not lecturing definitely. Just the expression of different point of view.

Anyone can find anyone sexy. Anyone can love anyone. According to me we are not judges and we cannot say who is suitable for whom. We just look at it and either fancy that couple or not.
Age is only a 'number', not an identity, doesn't define the qualities of the one that someone will like, love or be happy together. I see a very beautiful couple here. It is certain that we all have different tastes.

SooHyun is unique.
Although she is somewhat introvert, conservative and distant, she doesn't fully escape from this very new experience popped up in the middle of her life. If she were one of those stereotypes, she would be freaked out, she would keep saying 'I'm sorry, I do apologise' kind of thing and only avoid Jin Hyuk.
JinHyuk is unique.
He comes from a modest family, but he doesn't get intimidated by her wealth, success or age. At the same time he doesn't talk about eternal love in only a handful of weeks, but he just treasures the uncommon occurrence that came into his life; he is just trying to live it without unnecessarily naming. If he were one of those copybook characters, he would either think that there were huge barriers between them and would try to stay away from her in the name of his pride, or he would already consider this as 'the one and only love of his life' and feel very sad, pathetic.
WooSeok is unique.
He doesn't seem an uncaring cold- hearted ex-husband. He tries to back up his ex wife in a very mindful way. If he were one of those cliche antagonists he would be furious. He would do his best to get rid of the young man following his ex woman.
I cannot say anything about the coming episodes, but Encounter is 'So Far So Good. So Very, Delightfully Good'

He is extremely cute. She is extremely delicate. It warms my heart watching them together.

Besides, who do we think we are that consider ourselves as decision makers about who should be together or about who is suitable with whom etc? a very arrogant, very offensive thing.

Sure that plot has many common motives. But I think what matters most is how the plot is presented to the audience.
You may watch an adaptation of a very well known novel or movie, and, despite that you know every single detail of the story, you still fall in love with that version. Dialogues, character building, acting, cinematography, atmosphere all come together and make a unique piece out of that very familiar thing.
Here the storytelling style of this drama is special enough that makes it worth watching I think.
