Just watched first episode and it seems quite uneven. I'm having a hard time believing Yu Xi Gu is at all attractive…
I agree that the notion that he's super attractive is played up too much in the first episode. When the script has so many characters referring to something like that, there should be little question on the part of the audience or it will backfire. Plus I don't think it's even necessary for him to be a gorgeous-looking guy for the story to work.
DBK isn't that mature. The conflict between Pete&Kao is extremely childish and forced. Tharntype is ... ugh. Whatever.…
I think it's more than a third wheel situation - it's more like a romantic rivalry. The question for me is whether the rival is sincere or just trying to get on Pete's nerves.

Haha - I had a feeling that Yu Xi Gu's new job would be at a gay club, and I figured that Xiang Hao Ting would somehow see him there. Looks like things really get rolling next week!
Two unforgettable scenes are when Golf realizes it's Bank's birthday (as well as the anniversary of Bank's father's death) and goes to find him, and when Golf completely loses it over Tom's interest in Bank, and Bank texts him, and Golf rushes to find him. Everything about these scenes - the setting, the acting, and the music - is perfect.
"Thank you for loving someone as awful as me." Oh how that line always moves me so much.
Gay man here. Have been getting all my gay and lesbian friends into BL this summer....Have watched it all. ????Started…
I'm a gay guy too. I've tried to get some of my friends into BL but haven't had much luck. As for me, Asian drama is all I watch these days. No joke.
For BL I too started with Sotus. I then watched the three seasons of Hormones, followed by Love By Chance, Make It Right, and Lovesick 1 and 2. I believe that HIStory 2 and 3 are masterpieces of the genre, but I didn't like Theory of Love at all -- I basically hate-watched it to the end. The unbalanced and abusive nature of the main couple's relationship just upset me too much, and Kai's sudden redemption at the end felt unearned and unconvincing. (And it left me never wanting to watch anything else starring Off, so I guess that means he's a talented actor at least.)
Lovesick and Crossing the Boundary are my two favorite series so far. Lovesick feels groundbreaking and iconic both in terms of storyline and its music soundtrack. ("Shake" has turned up in so many other shows, from the Waterboyy movie to Reminders, that I've lost count.) As for that notorious party scene in the first episode, at first it confused the hell out of me and even made me drop the show for a few weeks, but after I finally finished Season 1 and went back to rewatch the first episode it was amazing to spot the clues in the party scene about what was to come over the course of the series.
As for HIStory 1, I wasn't nearly as disturbed by the relationship between Jin Teng and Li Chen in Obsessed as I was by the one between Kai and Third in Theory of Love. It puzzles me that more people weren't as upset by Theory of Love as I was. I'd be curious to read an analysis of that series that's as comprehensive and insightful as the ones provided by the wonderful KearaMH for the HIStory shows.
Can someone tell me if Bai Lin gets less annoying? The more I'm watching this show the more I can't stand her…
I was going to post this exact same question. Can't stand her. The other three roommates are so much more grounded and mature. I'm not sure why they'd want to drag around this useless piece of excess baggage.
Can anyone tell me whether this series is BL or Bromance????
Bromance, but comes so close to being BL that I think it originally was BL, until for some reason they took a step back and made it bromance. So, it’s a bromance where neither “bro” shows much interest in females and one admits to being bisexual (and rebuffs the female who hits on him), and they really care about each another.
I think "Kiss Me Again" could have been more clear in the first episode about the timeline for the Pete x Kao storyline.
For a long time it bothered me that Sandee appears with Pete and Kao in the very first scene of the BL thread, with Sandee handing a document to Kao and Pete grabbing it away. Obviously they all know each other pretty well, although we're not given any sense of what's going on with Pete generally being a d*ck while driving Kao all over town for some sort of activity.
But from there "Kiss Me Again" takes us to Pete and Kao's high school days, with Kao meeting Pete for the first time when Pete and his buddies are giving Rain a beating. (Well, it sure *seems* like a first-time meeting, but then we see how Pete goes pretty easy on Kao, not even hitting back after Kao punches him. One thing we come to know about Pete: he relishes a good fight.)
But then we're zoomed forward to the first day of college. Here, Sandee is now a stranger to June, Kao and Thada until June brings her into their "cool gang". From there Sandee immediately brings the boys to meet her other friend, Pete. Pete spots Kao and says "You again," like they're encountering each other for the first time in a while.
So, clearly, the timeline should be (1) high school scene where Kao has his first encounter with Pete when he breaks up the fight between Pete and Rain, (2) the first day of college where June brings the gang together for the first time, and (3) the scene where Kao takes the document from Sandee and leaves with Pete. It would make sense that the document is part of the assignment that they're all doing for their college class (the one where Pete doesn't bother helping Kao, which also fits with Pete's attitude in that opening sequence.)
Maybe I'm just too dumb to pick up on all this right away, but even after watching the Pete x Kao storyline a few times it still didn't dawn on me. I wish that the series had just given us some indicators of the timeline shifts, like putting the words "A few months earlier" on the screen at the key points. Or, better yet, just start the storyline with the scene in high school and move that first scene with Sandee to its proper place in the college part of timeline.
Anyway, not a big deal but I just wanted to get that off my chest. If you managed to read this far without rolling your eyes, thank you. :)
Interesting to see that his only series credits are with Love Sick. When I saw him in Love Sick I thought he looked so familiar. In fact I came to this profile page to find out where I’d seen him before.

Anyway - a handsome and talented actor!
