Not the best but ….
Let me start by saying it is because is Zhao Lusi that I decided to watch this series. I’m not a big fan of 24-29 minutes series wherein the first 3 minutes are for recall of previous episode and credits.I have always thought that any actor will have a good chemistry with Lusi but I stand corrected. The lead male actor and Lusi has no chemistry whatsoever.
It’s most likely a man limited budget production because it is obvious.
Love the characters and twists they added in this series but amazingly, even with a certain power each characters possessed, it doesn’t seem to be used when needed the most - it’s confusing

Cute casts, could have been a great series
The legend of JinyanI believe if this series had a few roles with different casts and Director it would have turned out better.
Heads up: 80% of the entire series, the male lead is upset, nagging, yelling, bossing and irritated. Surely there could have been a better way to portray this character than this way. I used fast forward a lot because it got frustrating seeing him always upset and irritated. For a prince, his character was written to be not so smart that the brother Prince Jin is much more smarter and sensible. Of all casts, prince Jin to me did his role justice and acted the best. Female Lead didn’t fit this role at all.
The story is also blurry: testament, Queen Dowager, the parents of the female lead, the relationship ending of Prince Jin and female lead, the almost drowning in the lake incident, etc., there’s a lot of scenes and situations in this series that wasn’t really explained thoroughly as to how it relates to the entire story. Some just got glossed over, some not even explained as if that certain unrelated scene was just added to fill the time.
I really love the story and the casts were really cute but the way it was written for the screen and directed were poor to my opinion.

Slow-Good-Better-Disappointing-FF to end
The plot of the story was already explained so I’ll go to my likes and dislikes. This is my own personal opinion.Started excellently wherein the explanation for what was shown in the very beginning wasn’t explained til last 2 episodes.
Got my interest because the story was mixed with a lot of puzzles that got slowly explained. There’s few scenes that didn't have any value but added in there I believe to fill time.
I might have started with the second male syndrome because General Fu Chou/FC seemed to have suffered so much that a little attention and care from the Female lead would have been nice. I was hoping he at least experience a happy heart even for two episodes but he probably got 10 minutes of it for the entire series.
It went downhill for my by episode 24 and I fast forwarded to the last episode then realized I have to watch the one before the last episode to get the sense as to why the emperor is sitting dead on the throne. I lost interest by then since I can tell by then that second male FC will not be written on the script to experience being loved or adored by someone he love.
The production was excellent, the sword fight were great and the OST is good. Costumes were beautiful and not boring. Acting were mostly good but the chemistry of the actors with each other weren’t felt. The characters were also good. I enjoyed the humorous and childish second prince. The evil Dowager actress for me didn’t do a great job portraying her role. Male Lead Weiyou came across flat to me in his portrayal.
This series has so many story on top of stories that if you don’t pay attention, you’ll miss it and get confuse.
It’s not something I’ll rewatch.

Deserves to be known
This very short series deserves more exposure. It is a great story and filmed excellently. The actors are so engaging that you can feel their sentiments without them saying a word. The story is great and it deals with the reality of life of a man living with the military responsibility mixed it with emotions that some society doesn’t easily accept.
This is a truly wonderful drama that should be shared to the world, to allow the world to appreciate it. Well done to all film crew, casts, writers and producer.

Good to pass time
If you are looking for a series to pass time, this is a good one. Personally I don’t think the chosen actress for the female lead fit the role. It could be her facial expression or brashness when she’s talking but I believe this series would have been a lot better with a different actress. The story is typical but I enjoyed that it highlighted that the success of the female lead is through her friends’ support.
Ending is alright.
It’s not anything exceptional or unforgettable. It’s a good watch. I did fast forward a few times.

Don’t expect any kind of happy ending
Plot is already indicated so I’ll skip that. What I like is the portrayal of the actors. Can say that any one of them, even the support role artists did a great job with their role.
I like that the series touched (a tiny bit) about LGBTQ
I like the locations chosen to shoot this series.
The plot didn’t grab my interest.
The never ending hurdles that the female lead went through is about 75% of the series. My experience is that when viewers see too much problems and hurdles, it starts being boring instead of feeling empathy. Writers should have considered this. I fast forwarded most cuz I got tired of it.
The only thing supposedly that’s positive in her life is her boyfriend that then she ruined herself.
Another man could have been a good source of support for her and the story didn’t even give it a descent chance.
Personally, writers can be blamed for the negative reception for this series that could have had a good rating.
I watched this first season and the ending left me frustrated. There’s many things that were not even explained. There’s a season 2 that I haven’t seen that could possibly explain most of the things left unexplained in season 1.

Do not miss & rewatch
Most reviews here regardless of ratings are essentially true to some point. End result is it is very much worth the time to watch.Just like any Korean drama series that start funny and light, towards the middle the heavy drama starts until the end.
Bogum truthfully did well here and lead cast has awesome chemistry that I’m wishing for another series with both of them.
There are so many casts who did an awesome job that without their role, I don’t think this would have ended up with a great rating. Kwak Dong Yeon and Jung Jin Young, then Byung Yeon was so talented played the role of a man of few words, his was the only character made me emotional.
Kudos to the director and production team for this exemplary series. Wouldn’t it be nice if they add another season? Hah! My wishful thinking.

?CUTENESS?
Considering this was shot using a galaxy phone during quarantine, this short series turned out good. Acting could be better but overall it’s not bad. Love the appearance of Aaron Lai. Also liked that the film included actual Taiwan streets during quarantine.Story is cute. Read comments about this prior to watching, and most said it’s full of cuteness. I’ll agree that it’s cute & nice. I’m seriously curious how the filming for this and the production were done if using a galaxy phone😊
It’s ten minutes for each episode. That’s what I don’t get. Wouldn’t it be less work to just do full length film rather than cut it into episodes if it’s just for ten minutes? I also didn’t see a lot of promotion for this series.

Hidden Gem
It’s a fluke coming across this film today. I didn’t waste time and searched where I can watch this with English sub; YT didn’t disappoint me.This could have been a successful full length film or drama series. I can sense there’s so much to tell within the story. The acting was exemplary and the filming was superb. I am wondering why this short film wasn’t promoted well. At any rate, it will be a worthwhile half an hour and at the end watch out because you’ll be wanting more.
Awesome production here! It lacked promotion otherwise it would have made money!0

Watch at faster speed
My own fault for anticipating this to be at same level as the original Eternal Love drama series. Thou the actors are fairly new, the male lead did a descent job but very disappointing for the female lead. I also can’t understand scriptwriters having FL constantly calling out the ML’s name. If you dare, start counting. Every time there’s a conversation between FL and ML, she called out his name. There’s very poor camera shots in some scenes too wherein FL not done talking yet and it got cut already. There’s scenes that didn’t not smoothly flowed. The costumes used were great. Story could have been better if only there’s a clear distinction of the villains. The female lead has an unusual irritating voice on top of very poor acting skills. Some sentimental scenes came out frustrating because of poor acting. I forced myself to finish watching the series to make an honest review. I fast forwarded a lot and finally watched it at 1.5X speed. Was this review helpful to you?

Typical plot but good
Title is weird that it doesn’t even catch interest. It’s the typical love triangle story of a woman wanting to be given same opportunity as a man. I find the second lead man’s performance and acting superior than that of the male lead. Slapstick humor but still entertaining. You can predict the storyline but most times it’s hard to be interested when you already know what will happen. This broke that rule. I don’t personally find any chemistry between the lead male and lead female. At the end, I was rooting more for the villain second male lead. His acting and portrayal of the role is that good. It is worth the time to watch.I believed there are two other series with same concept - female in period school full of men. Only exception in this story, Zhao Lusi didn’t pretend to be a man and entered as the first female student in an all male school. She pioneered being the first female student in an all male school.
One thing about Zhao Lusi is her excellence in portraying the core essentials of the role. She can adapt her personality to whatever role she is playing.
Although I like the male lead, I was hoping she ends with Ren Hao in this story. I know he is the villain somewhat but he played his character so well, I couldn’t help rooting for his character to get the FL.
Anyways, if you like period drama like I do, this is an awesome watch and you won’t be disappointed.
Love the Martial arts choreography. I love the wardrobes used by all characters.
One of the actress who played second lead is same actress in Love in the Galaxy that played the role of Niao friend that became her sister in law.

Not boring and a very lively story.
I loved the development of the relationship between Xue Qianxian and Dragon King when they were trying to learn about mortal love. It was comical in the beginning and slowly got serious. On and off the second female lead will still be funny. The competition between two male leads is really interesting to watch and the scene where Xue Qianxian and Fate immortal pretended to be Ayu, was priceless. The character of Xue QianXian as a cold Lord, played by Deng Wei is quite impressive. Love the OST.
It is worth the time to watch.
The story goes on for decades and crosses lifetime but don’t let that dissolution you because it’s written really well that it’ll be enjoyable. I personally don’t care for story crossing timeline but this is different.

Best BL drama for 2021
This second season tells the story at the stage of adulthood. It also touches relationship for two people with mental health issue. It is a BL story but you will focus more on the story. Strong emotions in Season 2 that will make viewers feel and empathize. The ending is a bit rushed or disorganized for me but the great story, acting and casts made up for the last episode. I think it could have been done better. I’ll definitely pay a subscription if there’s a 3rd season. It is a well directed drama. Great job to all staff and artists. Was this review helpful to you?

This series will surprise you.
I started this late because I didn't think it will be interesting for me. I decided to watch it while watching The Legend of Anle just to fill my time waiting for next episode of TLOA. It didnt grab me at first episode and actually left it alone until i again ran out of selection to watch. Loh and behold, I now favor it more than TLOA. I just completed episode 14 and felt the need to drop a review to those considering this series.I am guilty of not entertaining this series initially because the artists casted here are not ones I am familiar with let alone the concept of 3 men after one lady. They are all equally good ones so far so I cant even decide yet who I favor to win her heart.
It is not just about romance and getting there. The story is told so far in a well balanced manner. I enjoy the fantasy aspect of it too.
Give it a try. You may end up surprising yourself loke I did.

All generation watch
I started watching this in iQIYI. First 2 episodes are free and at this time of review 1/16/23 there were 8 episodes released to watch already. It’s an everyday life story dealing with the social economic living dealing with independence and responsibilities at an early age. It also tells a story about friendship.
I can tell it’s for any early adult to late adulthood viewers. The story is simple and easy to follow. Anyone striving with making a living and being responsible will be able to relate to the main characters.
Romance is there’s but didn’t really start for main characters til episode 7 I believe. So far, I can’t really tell where the romance part is heading-still unclear.
I bit confusing with some scenes in regards to main characters’ backgrounds. Story about them trickles slowly. I completed episode 8 and still not sure why one of main lead changed his name, and why the other male lead sometimes is swimming in money and then the next do not have any but able to offer help with other lead actors’s grandmothers nursing facility.
I’ll edit my review after I watch all episodes.
