For those idiots complaining: you think that its ok, since the girl in the end usually ends up with the guy. But…
Actually having some basic understanding of cultural differences helps to understand why characters do things. For instance when you see a character lick their finger and touch there nose, grabbing their ears if they touched something too hot with their fingers. being filial to your family to the detriment of your own health/ happiness, hair cutting for punishment are not norms for western culture. But if one takes the time to find out a little background on why they are doing or were practicing it, that helps your understanding when you see it in a drama. Granted some are way more extreme than the others and no one has ever said things were “justified“ because they were cultural differences. But most people need to understand there are differences that are more accepted in one society vs. another and that doesn’t make one ultimately better than the other. And yes abuse is wrong that is a given.

Hopefully people that think the “drama’ the women go through to end up with the cute rich guy in the end is worth it are not watching these types of dramas. (they do give age minimums at the beginnings for a reason) People might need a better understanding of cultures to aid their reflecting.

I honestly had to think about this before making a reply, because at first I just thought well anyone with sense should be able to realize that this is tv and not real life. I even went back and forth on the options and finally had to pick “it does not bother me”. Mainly because I am older and past the very impressionable age, and secondly I have sense enough to understand plot devices.

I get having the bad boy act like one and then met this woman and go through a “change” to become a better guy. Would I want to be in that type of relationship in real life.. nope, but it makes for a good STORY. I also look at these dramas as an “outsider” since its not my cultural norms and many things I still don’t understand or accept and that is ok. Do i think they can take the actions too far on dramas YES, but again they are dramas and I don’t confuse them with how people should act or be treated in real life.

And now onto the Reply 1997, I understood the hair cutting to be a cultural thing of punishment done to women (and maybe men) with a historical bases. Should this have been compared to rape, NO that is not an opinion or just what i’m feeling it is not rape, but it is an assault/abuse. I have been sexually assaulted not raped there is a difference, having ones hair forcibly cut is not the same type of violence as a rape. I have read the arguments and replies to others and there is no comparison of the two no matter how loud one yells, argues or belittles.

The article as a whole was a very interesting look at whats in many of the romantic dramas and thankfully an eye opener to some people and reminder to others to pay a little more attention to what we are all watching and taking in from the dramas.

What the holy fook ?! I think I was confused about EVERYTHING until the 7th or 8th episode and noooo this wasn't like Autumn's Concerto I haven't seen A Love To Kill but from reading the info I think it might be closer to that. I still enjoyed it but hated the voice overs and some of the 'acting' was giggle worthy.

I thought this was a great movie and I feel that the people yapping/complaining about the sex scenes are not taking in the context the director/writer was going for. It was about intense PASSION, LUST and LOVE, all things that make you do crazy, unreasonable, and insane shit. I enjoyed seeing real physical passion/love with characters and not awkward lip presses of many dramas. There are some people that are a "where the body goes the heart follows" so i don't think the feelings of the couple is diminished because of that. If anyone thinks this is porn..you haven't been watching real porn.

There are two good ones in My lovely Kim Sam Soon, the first when Sun Ah goes into the wrong bathroom to cry, then the one where Hyun Bin is trapped in the toilet without TP (really cracked up over the dialog with him and Sun Ah)

Only one I would disagree with is #9 I found the female lead to be the most annoying. i've seen just about all the remakes and ALL the male leads act the same I think that standoffishness is part of that role. Course all the female leads have annoyed me greatly in all of the remakes hence I have drop halfway through or right at the end. (japanese and korean the only ones i watched the whole series)

I haven't finished this drama yet, I usually have to put Taiwanese dramas on hold so I won't drop them (they circle the dang airport too long without landing towards the end) but I can say I have enjoyed it and look forwarding to seeing the end. However I will NOT miss Vivian saying DADDY all the damn time! I don't think I will ever be able to watch another drama with her in it without flashbacks.

I love Rain, but I still cannot get through 'Full House'- it's on my "Hold" list. I try to go back and…
Oh good I am glad I am not alone, I never wanted to admit to disliking full house but OMG! I watched maybe half then went to the end. Surprisingly I really liked FH2. Only thing I have loved Rain in so far has been Nina Assassin. He wasn't bad in Full House..just the story killed it for me.
