if you watched that scene carefully you would notice none of them said anything about FL? what exactly he should refute ? he is helping her to get teammate,beat the guy who harassed her,stood up for her in elementry school ? that's exactly why she is alone she needs to understand other the main reason why she lost because she wanted to solve alone and used grey method instead a different team approach ?

exactly that how simple this all is but they are making it as BETRAYAL of the century red flag ML is loser jealous.

exactly you have to put yourself in their shoe to understand them but they are just looking this from FL's lenses

1. he never agreed to be her team she naturally thought so he cleared that part in drama if you have watched it carefully he didn't intenstionaly choose glasses girl she came to him and also she is the second smartest girl overall seventh rank person in the school why shouldn't he choose her if he can't choose FL ...ofc she is jealous and rude but that doesn't take away the fact she is talented
2. If he won in FL's team everyone would think they won beacause of her how can he see how big the gap is between them if you want to know your rival potential and where do you stand ofc you will compete against that person to see your level exactly what he did
3. not just everyone wants to win what about that ting girl who couldnt get a single individual answer right ? what about ML doesnt he need to prove to himself he isnt a loser ? what about the glasses girl (her personailty you may not like it ) but she is also suffering for her maybe this is her only chance I CAN UNDERSTAND FL BUT YOU JUST CAN'T SEE FROM HER POV ALONE
4. I respect other's opinion but at least criticise the right part like acting not convincing enough but this to those who are BLINDLY HATING ON ML

There's a reunion scene in ep. 1 where he has long hair, misunderstanding, and miscommunication

And the girl is a genius; that's why she will solve everything within her domain or even outside her domain. Everything miraculously; only her team or others can drag her down; otherwise, she is untouchable, and ML is just dragging her down by beating the guy who was going to harass her, getting a strawberry milkshake, finding teammates for her, waiting to talk to her ....you are right, ML is a loser... standing up for her , protecting her

After watching all the episodes, the people are making a scene about the following point
1. Why did he say RIVAL? - he clearly mentioned " Xianzhi" means right now for the competition; in that context, he is seeing her as a rival only, so no emotions can distract him. Isn't this the very natural thing ofc he sees her friend too; why would he buy a strawberry shake, wait for her outside the school, get jealous, beat the guy who was going to harass her
2. he won just because he knows her - and what's the problem here? It is the most common thing happen in any competitive competition where you assess your opponent: how much skilllset ,ability ,personal behaviour .....It was a team competition. FL relied on herself alone to do that; why choose that model system instead of Poisson and Bayes, which were more balanced? Which ML's team did fair and square?
HATING ON ML JUST BECAUSE OF SOMETHING WHICH ISN'T EVEN HIS FAULT?

so drama literally changed that part to online friendship 😂 ....is it very popular game? i have seen lot of dramas on this

so she skips the high school and directly went to Cambridge so they know each other for like 2 yr only if drama does that part and as you said he doesnt look rich so he would not visit her too that explains the intro scene of this dramas lost touch for 5 yr or something .....off topic by league you mean league of legends?

so if there was no timejump then what happened in those middle school time in the novel ?

but they are just teens what kinda hopes up you want he is already doing thing out of his way as much as he knows or finding out what he actually feels for FL or how he sees her well everyone has there pov i respect yours... just give them time family situation settles down then we will see there progression

exactly this is not your typical where one lead will fall in love instantly and do thing out of the way . two people gradually and mutually falling for each other in that phase where they will make mistake learn from them and grow that's the most important part that is what different in this drama. You must have noticed that typical thing is done by SML here so everyone is obsessing with him and hating on ML unnecessarily

apne novel padha hai ? abhi kitne changes hue hai iss drama mein?

to all novel readers, isme jyada emotional rollercoaster part toh nhi ?

brother someone with sense here they are expecting ML to fall for her or something...they are not considering timeline and he literally see her as rival cause he was always topper but dethroned by her that too in friendly way and ofc your point it's still there growing phase they will learn and respect

i believe this is just the start you can't expect someone to miraculously be curious about someone or like you instantly it takes time for ppl to know grow each other someone like ML who was always a topper dethroned by someone obviously he will think of her rival
