I totally understand, as his fan, you wouldn’t be happy to see him getting mocked over this 🍉. Honestly, it reminds me of the situation with Liu Yuning during POB, where there was so much mocking and then fanwar, especially after POB became a hit (with all the blame being pushed onto SZE). The mockery in that case was borderline cyberbullying, IMO. Fanwars and toxic behaviour have always been part of the messiness in C-ent, so why is all the blame being thrown on her side now?
From what it looks like, Tencent has been wanting to pair them together for a while. Even though she doesn’t have as many fans as her peers like ZLS or YSX, her popularity among general audiences has been good. That’s probably why there are constant rumors about her upcoming projects, especially after the success of POB. Naturally, general fans and even black fans are curious about what she’ll do next. It’s no different from ZLS —when she makes a comeback, people will quick to speculate about her next project.
And let’s be real, her team doesn’t have the power to “step on” Xu Kai. We don’t really know what’s happening behind the scenes (their connections) or how producers are choosing and arranging the their future stars.
