I don't think people are hating this show because the acient system, they hate this show because the weird and vague explanation of many things. Makes people have to guess most of the time. I know they cut some episodes but still...
The non stop cold war is also a weakness. Many people are watching this show because the 2 leads. After the bitter ending from yangxi palace, they're hoping for more sweet time and hopefully a happy ending for the leads. But all we get are cold war, jealousy and stubbornness.
What i hate the most is yue hua. She did so many bad things, from seducing the late emperor to harming the female lead and many more things (and people know about it), but she's still working as the big chief in the kitchen. Doesn't make any sense to me.

The 3 men were like 2 meters behind the emperor. And no one was near the emperor to protect him except the second male. It was so easy to kill him but yet they were holding back. I'm dying xp
