I think you need to see the chronology of events again...It was ep 14 after the break up and at the beginning of ep 15 that he is hovering around Do hee he hasn't combusted yet it was just during their breakup that he continues to care for her...only in ep 15 at the end when Do Hee takes the bullet for him he makes a prayer to God and brings her back to life...as a demon he isn't allowed to bring someone back to life so he went in spontaneous combustion...
