My other wild theory is that XWY was only ever a general of Chang'an army. He pose as XWY but in fact pageboy is XWY and was hidden as XHA's pageboy since he was young by Grand Preceptor. And that he is alive and the cloaked man in the trailers.

Check out my theory below about original Zhang Mo not being dead. If Zhu Zilong's face grow technique was not developed by him but by Liu ziwen's team maybe someone else help grow a XWY face for original ZM to wear. I think he could of swapped in when Xiao Wu Yang distracted his helper to go protect the salt shopkepper.

Original Zhang Mo is the only body we never definitely saw dead after. XHA only ever told WenJing he didnt need to know. Plus explains how they got over WJ "killing" Zhang Mo if he survived.

You got me thinking. I have theory now. What if original Zhang Mo didn't die. That's why Xiao Wuyang distract that guy helping him to go protect the salt shopkeeper. When that guy leaves, original Zhang Mo with XWY face swaps in. Whether Zhang Mo's dad knows it's his son or not, reaction makes sense either way.
