Title My Stubborn
Went in with no expectations, needed a light filler in between heavy shows. Left satisfied, itch was scratched with minimal eye rolling drama. Watched mostly the scenes with the two male leads (their chemistry is off the charts!), the other pairs did nothing for me. The main couple's interactions were so fluid and natural, wish i could see more of this in Thai dramas. The couple scenes mostly seem so stilted and uncomfortable to me.

Porn some say? What porn? All I see is two red blooded, young males getting busy like yknow, horny young men do. Not a naked butt in sight or tasteless nudity involved. It's weird, not judging anyone's tastes, if you don't like sex scenes that's completely cool but THIS IS NOT PORN!!! It's as if there is something wrong with a show that shows energetic, enthusiastic, erotic gay sex, which makes me wonder if people realize gay men love to f*** and enthusiastically too! This show was about a horn dog/sex fiend teaching a novice the ins and outs (pun intended) of getting it on so...

I'm worried about what people seem to think being gay entails in terms of sexual relations. lol

Didn't care for the offiice scenes, would have preferred they worked on a "thicker" plot but hey, it did it's job. I was entertained, graced with hotness, no unnecessary overwrought melodram, THE END.

What is this hot saltwater running down my face at the end of episode 29? SUCH a burdensome and heavy load, especially when it is not one you choose to carry. He wants to serve his people, but NOT in that capacity. My heart is breaking, poor man.

This show has me in a chokehold I swear. It's just so fucking GOOD.

Well, let's continue and see where the road leads him/us.

Edit: Aaannnnnd the start of episode 30 ๐Ÿ˜ข๐Ÿ˜ข๐Ÿ˜ข๐Ÿ’”๐Ÿ’”๐Ÿ’”

Just saw the trailer and it's giving me mild Secret Crush on You vibes which I LOVED to death because of AND in spite of its cringe. Cannot WAIT for this to be over so I can binge. Been starting and dropping BLs like someone else's snot rags...

Since Netflix has the global streaming rights, the drama wonโ€™t be available on Viki.
I love when Viki has shows available. They take so much time filling in details (meanings, idioms etc.) Netflix translations can be wonky too sometimes. But am I gonna really complain? Helllll no!!! Excited to binge this when it ends!

In my stressed life, I heavily depend on romance dramas to relieve my stress. But I like both leads. What to do…
Watch it in "bite size" amounts. :) One episode a day folllowed by an episode or two of a romance drama ๐Ÿ‘Œ

Does this say something about me, that after reading this comment I immediately hit Plan to watch (advance HIGH).…
Haha, I'm on for the ride! I am gonna wait till more episodes are aired before starting. I usually refrain from watching things till they are completed so there are no interruptions eg scheduling conflicts for holidays, network issues etc.

So I rarely watch shows while they air (I am a massive binger) but I'm so glad I did with this one, because I am enjoying interacting on MDL while it's ongoing. A couple episodes ago I commented on the ML and FL leads and their comedic importance to the story and today (Episode 14) I am dyyying at her feistiness. Girl lost her shoe with the kick. I replayed the scene multiple times, watching her wriggle her foot back into it. The way she reared up for the move, I could feel her gears turning. LOL! OK back to business....

I agree. I kinda feel like they are comedic/lighthearted relief in the midst of all the dense and complex events…
Thank you!

Yeah, it was hard for me not to roll on the floor laughing during some recent stuff. My cousin and I were discussing about how China is used to entrenched and dynastic warfare. They play the LOOOOONG game better than most. Not kissing their government's ass, just giving credit where it is due.

You know, they probably were. Also in accordance with said youth, there is a display of naivete and idealism in their behaviours/speech, especially with Hong Chu.

Pretty incredible when you think a nation like the US has been here 250 years and in China, that span of time is like "Oh you know, ONE dynasty, with maybe ten emperors". lol The scope of history, the many, many, many changes and upheavals and power exchanges is breathtaking. I love that engrossing shows like this give a glimpse into the past and excites viewers to read up and learn more about this time period.

Itโ€™s probably just meโ€ฆdonโ€™t get me wrong, I do love the CP development between Qian Hong Chu and Sun Tai…
I agree. I kinda feel like they are comedic/lighthearted relief in the midst of all the dense and complex events surrounding them. You have to remember that from our first intro to their characters, one was depicted a wise ass, happy go lucky, adventurous spy (from a noble family nonetheless) and she was a smart mouthed, spunky girl, ALSO from a powerful family.

They do and don't quite fit in to this world of diplomacy, scheming, warring and political machinations. Thus the writing "removes" them from the story sort of, if that makes sense. It's almost as if the jarring disconnect between their scenes and others is used to further underscore this fact. They are two "connected" kids along for a ride that is fraught with peril and real danger.

I like their subtly tender moments that aren't necessarily swoonworthy eg. the tense, then comforting hand hold in the horseback scene but also would be fine if this relationship didn't exist. Definitely not an integral part of the story so far, not sure what is ahead though.

Riveting stuff. I am hooked, it's been sooooo long since a show had me this immersed and invested. I keep dropping them left and right and forgetting to even go back/record my progress...

Great acting from everyone so far. It must have been so difficult, living through such treacherous times with so much betrayal, evil, greed and blind ambition at every corner. I mean, honestly not much has changed as far as humans and their awfuness goes, but this time period was a whole stratospheric level, as were some other distinct eras in China's history. Good men/non conniving schemers were CRUSHED like bugs. Damn! This show is EXACTLY why I love Asian dramas in general and cdramas in particular.

I hope they maintain this great storytelling, acting, plot etc. throughout. I'm so tired of poor/rushed endings.

lol it's the opposite for me๐Ÿ˜…
I am with you on that. It's not bad or anything, it's just missing SOMETHING that prevents me from wanting to continue. I am seconding this 'cause we seem to be the odd men out (nothing right/wrong with that either).

Dropping this, no insult to anyone that participated in any way to the drama.

I'm just not FEELING anything. I had put it on hold before, came back and same reaction. I can't seem to care about ANYONE in particular or their (the group's) "destination", character developments or what they are feeling. With that disconnect, no matter how visually appealing it is, how much i love the action scenes, there is just no immersion so I am out. I can understand others enjoying the drama, if the characters and story resonated with them, for me the magic never happened. I truly wanted to like it so I am bummed out.

Looking for an action filled wuxia/xianxia like this (ensemble, great cinematography and fight scenes) if anyone has recommendations.

Honestly I am surprised that it is relatively new. The concepts are really outdated (r*pe, cheating, non-con touching,…
I agree with the lack of romance. Wasted potential because these two leads have GREAT and effortless chemistry.

Can somone please tell me the chronological order of these? I am thoroughly confused
Hope this is not too late. There was a short 4 episode version you can watch if you want to which is the En of Love: Love Mechanics one. It was a short version in an anthology of sorts of different couples but I believe this was the best and most popular story. You can watch it if you want or just skip it altogether and watch this (they decided to then do a full series which is this one.). The rest are all just specials not really shows.

So basically this is the one to watch with the full story. I recommend highly. One of my favorites. Angst, heartache, longing, drama, interesting story, stellar acting.
