i know this story is more about emperor renzhong, not heroine empress cao. i haven't read the novel, but a friend said in the end the empress and emperor ship is not smooth either. so, i stop watching this. cannot imagine my heart once again crushed like watching Goodbye My Princess some times ago. ~sigh.

1. in the drama, because emperor doesn't have that kind of feeling toward empress, unlike his feelings toward lady miao and later lady zhang. more likely because he always seen empress cao as a "puppet" stuffed to his palace by his ministers. 2. historically, empress renzhong's favorite concubine was lady zhang, it is said she wanted to become empress and renzhong often made decisions favoring her, biased. she died at 31 years old after giving birth to three princesses and the emperor was said very sad about her death. the drama should be more or less following the history.
i just wish they follow the novel happy ending. won't ask more than that. watching those sweet and touching scenes, cute and innocent... i cannot bear it if the ending is tragic stupid error sad whatever heartbreaking.
i heard the novel is happy ending, hopefully they won't change the ending for the drama version..... and 60 episodes ? give me 100 episodes as long as it's as good as ashes of love.

What is the moral of the story ? So she loved her enemy... and she'd rather suicide than revenge; rather suicide than forgiving ; .... how come only has suicide in mind ? Oh author, why must making all people in this story living a pessimistic life ? ... even that general Pei, "merely receive orders to kill" while he knew Gu Jian was also his friend and prince's cousin. I don't like any of the characters in this drama. If to "reborn" as one of them, I might choose become that lady shopkeeper or Xuniang (the one LCY released from the palace).

so true. after all he really loves her, it's just he's bit of ego maniac so he loved her with a wrong way. he should have learnt in their third life by then. lol.
it might be boring not only the story line, but maybe because there is no pretty face like jeremy xu (that taishi in legend of dugu). unless you are fan of chen xiao. but basically it follows the history more and give us more detailed relationship between yang jian and jialuo. but yes, not as i imagined.
the only thing i would say about this drama is, there is no character that is inspiring.
as example, princess agents, chu qiao is such inspiring. but this drama ? although the title might said it all "goodbye my princess / eastern palace" -which means it is from the male lead's point of view, which means HE should become the one who "inspires in positive ways", but in fact they make NONE of them in this drama has a strong character like that.
I really got frustrated not knowing whom should I support in this drama. The leads along with the other characters are all weak, not wise, cruel, have weird mind, childish, etc.
sorry for babbling this much. and i also hate it when they fooled us with cute and sweet scenes but give us such stupid ending where the prince can only cry, weep, go crazy, lunatic, wandering as insane person, etc "to show his regrets to the world". the title should be "crazy prince".

i blame the author making xiao feng not even a heroine at all.
