I think it's supposed to "add" drama and angst between the leads or something so they can start to realize their feelings. It's one of those silly tropes that don't really bother me but I roll my eyes whenever it's included.

No need to apologize for reminiscing! It sounds nice that you and you're friend group were able to show that affection towards each other. When I was trying to figure myself out, I became somewhat reclusive/shut-off and started to dislike personal affection without my innitiating it. I never really grew out of that, even years later now that I'm pretty much out.

I personally found Ze Shou to be a little invasive. Whenever he slung himself over Li Gong, you can kinda tell that Li Gong is a little annoyed at it. I just found Ze Shou to be invasive in that sense where he was just invading someone's personal space when they were clearly (in my opinion) annoyed with it. Just my thoughts on it, though.
