Not a problem! I'm glad I could help :D If you want to discuss it more you can message me!
TBH, I was super nosy so I really dug deep in the internet to find the novel. The novel practically is a slice of life BL. It just kinda goes 'I wonder who hurt my brother? Oh, well... let's go to class! let's study in the library! I really like Black's friends. Golly gee Sean is handsome, but if Black found out he'd be upset!" I'm super glad they turned it into more of a action suspense BL.
Honestly, the phobia is apart of it. But it'd be misleading to say that was the only reason. It's a little complex but it spans a lot more than just a slight fear.
Hm... they are friends, but it's a rather loose term for them? As Black puts it "it's 70:30. 70% hatred, 30% friendship." Their relationship is complex and messy to be honest.
I really do think the changes they made are going to improve the novel. When all said and done, the novel was rather simplistic. The few twists the author put in made if kinda complex and messy, but it didn't really change the plot. It was just more of a "the situation is not what you think it is" if that makes any sense at all. It was a straight forward read for the most part. I think all the action and intrigue that was put in is going to make everything better.
Just from the trailer, it looks like quite a bit was changed. It'd be easier to say what was the same than list what was different, hah. I read the novel a little while ago, so I'll try my best to answer. And be light on the spoilers.
Sean and White end up together. Gram and Black are a little harder to describe. There wasn't a moment were it was said 'lets be boyfriends.' If there was a moment where I would say that they "got together" it'd be in the second to last chapter. Sean and White end up together maybe a little over half way through the novel. I wouldn't personally say that Black was IN LOVE with Gram, but he was certainly more attached to him than Sean or Yok. Gram is in love with Black.
The girlfriend is a nuisance, but I'd say it's valid... in the beginning. She's more whiny than anything honestly. She didn't appear much so it's not like she'll appear often. She does pull one stunt, but multiple people were involved not just here. I won't say too much on it, haha. It was kinda messed up.
Yeah, there are sex scenes in the novel (the most explicit being between SeanWhite. GramBlack do hook up but it wasn't explicit. It was basically "then they had sex"). I can't specifically remember how many, but I'd say there here maybe 2? 3? If they do end up putting those scenes into the series, it'll get steamy.
There is a reason (or a few tbh) as to why he's such an ass. It isn't like he does things for shits and giggles. I won't explain why, as that is a MAJOR spoiler, but it is explained why he treats Sean they way he does and why he is so protective of White. Fun fact: him getting Sean suspended wasn't in the novel! So, it'll be interesting what stunts he pulls.
Anymore questions? I'd be more than happy to answer :) Hopefully this answered some of the questions you had?
