She’s like a baby duckling following its mom around so she definitely lost some memories or she die and was reborn and gotta relearn and remember her past. JiLing’s appearance seems to be the trigger to get all those back cuz she’s so affected by him and what happened to him.

I don’t get why WYi is so depraved of emotions for those scenes with XiaoWei and the other killings. But what if after she erased, told JiLing(?) to “forget me” by that lake and perhaps later she died. The foxes are immortals so she’s reborn but in the process all her old emotions/memories are gone so she gotta get/feel them back. And she is, as she met JiLing again. Her memories of that one boy by the lake are slowly returning in pieces so, so are her emotions.

At the start I was part of the commenters watching Reuters while they filmed. Then I left to watch released dramas. By the time I came back filming was done already and everyone else was extra crazy here. 🤣
Rewatching episodes and it seems WYan feels so much guilt compared to the rest (so far, need more stories from the rest). She takes on missions, killing many, shedding tears after each kill. She found XiaoWei but instead of capturing her, she only took the tail and let her escape. In return, XiaoWei kills many innocent people so more guilt for WYan cuz “if” only she had captured XiaoWei then. Once again WYan sets off to capture XiaoWei for real, only to lose her to death this time. And now it’s showing she’s one of the ones responsible for wiping out the Flood Dragon Clan and it doesn’t help that she got close to the only survivor, possible romance with him too. Guit after guilt.
Edit: Forgot to include that cuz she let XiaoWei escaped, XiaoWei did those cursed love tokens. Those love tokens also tore apart fated couples. 💔 So another guilt for WYan.
