This is actually a filmed vertically web series. The premise is the fl has a slave contact for 5 years with the ml in exchange for her family's protection after having fallen from a noble military clan into ruin. The story begins 3 years into the contract and the back story, with all the intrigue and mystery, gradually come to light. The ml is physically and mentally abusive to the fl because of a misunderstanding. Eventually, he find out the truth. Meanwhile, there's two concubines to deal with and their military families. Not going to disclose more. I like Jiao Pei Kai, but didn't like him in this character. And, no kisses except at near the end with one to the forehead. Ml was ruthless, but that's also part of that time frame.

Thanks for posting! You are so right on how it ended! I was happy with her decision. Was it just me or did her brother not know his sister and friend were dating? Because earlier it seemed like he knew they were dating because he told her nothing would come of that relationship. Well, not those exact words, but you know to what I am referring.
