Yeah, Qing Mu is perfect. He never had all the worries Bie Jue had, so he was carefree, he could really enjoy himself. I wish we could see Bai Jue being a father ad a husband after his return, he definitely would be more open after his experience as Qing Mu.

There are a great series of videos on YouTube talking about the stories from the novels Ancient God and Hidden God, and yes, Shang Gu and Bai Jue appears in Hidden God, when Bai Jue comes back is when Yuan Qi unlock his God's power. But they only used voices for Yuan Qi's mother and never talked about his father came back. And they even said that the Purple moon belonged to Yuan Qi's father. I can really laugh about it when I'm not pissed. XD

So this drama is not for you. This universe is about sacrifice for the greater good and TRY to manage selfish desires along with it. Is about losing the one you love to keep the three realms safe, if that's what it takes. Yuan Qi are a true God, and a true God must know better or he is not worthy.

So this is not a drama for you. Ancient Love Poetry universe was never about villains that can destroy the world. It was always about sacrifice to save the world, no matter the cost. Is about keeping the three realms in harmony despite selfish desires. :)

Please don't let Avenuex gets into your head. She is biased too. She is great and all but you might lose a great drama just because she is tired of some genre and only point the bad stuff. When ALP was out, she said it was horrible. I remember she saying 'this gods don't do anything serious'. Ancient Love Poetry never focused on the God's work behind the scenes, it's focused on the main couple. And yes, you can tell they are working hard to maintain the 3 realms, literally that's all that's about, how they need to save everyone from the chaos tribulation. Shang Gu cultivated alone for a thousand years to save the three realms and yet with a few episodes she said it was the same old xianxia she was tired to watch. I love xianxia, I never get tired of it, so I'm biased too. But I understand how you feel. I love some stories that I hated the first time I tried to know it. I was influenced by Avenuex when she reviewed ancient love poetry that it took me a years to go back to c drama and then Ancient Love Poetry became of favorite xianxia. It's a great production and really worth watching. When I get tired of xianxia, I watch other things, so I can start watching xianxia again with the same happiness as the first time.

I agree. I loved it from the start. I hated that they changed so much names and actors and stories, that I thought I would hate it. But I love it and as usual, people see 3 episodes and decide it's horrible. They are missing a good drama. It's not the best production out there, but there are many nice things about it. I don't think they can destroy a good Xing Ling's novel so easily.

I agree with you. As a huge fan of Ancient Love Poetry I'm very disappointed with this production. Despite my disappointment, I'm used to mediocre xianxia because they have always been there, since day one when I fell in love with the genre. I can point many bad things in the old ones and the new ones, as good things too. But somehow, I can really enjoy most of them and accept their failures and that only a few will be as good and well done as ancient love poetry. Too bad some people don't like xianxia anymore. You're not the only one complaining about it. Maybe your kind of xianxia is not what they think will sell. Ancient Love Poetry is a amazing production but it's not as popular as it should be.

I watched it 4 times. I loved it from the beginning. What first caught my attention was the CGI and then I loved Xu Kai after watching The Legends. But Ancient Love Poetry is a masterpiece. It surprised me after many xianxia. Not because of a very original plot, because it's a basic xianxia, it's all there, but because of the whole thing. We had great second characters, villains with more than just obsession with FL or ML, amazing CGI, good development (FL stops begging childish in the first episodes), good pace of the story, they get together before the end, they talk to each other and they don't let other people ruin their relationship unlike many other dramas. No misunderstanding plot for stupid things that drives you mad. The couple love and respect and talk to each other. It reminded me of my first c drama, where the couple get together soon. After that it was so difficult to get another like it. I know ALP is complicated, those who watched know what I'm talking about, but Qing Mu and Hou Chi story warms my heart. They are the highlight of the drama, the dream coming true. And the angst is the best for me. I never cry, but Ancient Love Poetry made me cry. Qing Mu and How Chi story made me cry all four times I watched. I highly recommend. The ones that are here now because of the sequel, the ones that dropped and want to give it another try: please, persist! We have a time skip in episode 16. Everything makes sense in the end. Just have patience. And I recommend to watch it before The Last Immortal because everything that's going on there and the rules and the ML motivation, you'll understand it all and it will hit you harder after watching ALP.

Even xianxia with 24 episodes and tagged as comedy have angst. It's in the xianxia vibe to be depressing, dramatic. You should watch modern drama, cause historical, wuxia, xianxia, they are too complicated, you won't feel light. Please, stay away from the genre and be happy. There are now c drama everyday for all tastes.

She can't. It's literally on the drama (and on Ancient Love Poetry before it) that the fire phoenix and the true gods fate are linked. Yuan Qi's mother tried to give her spiritual beast freedom, just to end up giving the villain power to destroy peace between immortals and demons. And the daughter of the fire Phoenix ended up taking care of the true God in a immortal form. Now it's Feng Yin's turn, and she can't scape, it's literally the rule of this world.

I don't understand. There are serious xianxia like the ones you want to watch, and there are comedy xianxia, playful and all of that. There are xianxia for everyone. Have you watched Ancient Love Poetry? Not that you'll like it, because you'll probably say it's the same thing over and over again, but it's a serious vibe, the female lead grows up fast and manage to get her true god power fast. Yeah, I'm talking about Yuan Qi's mother. She was born with little power too, she had to work for it, just to...... And then Yuan Qi's father...... Now Yuan Qi wants to have little spiritual power, because he is traumatized. Because being a True God is a shit. His mother wished she wasn't a God, so she could have a normal life. It's fair Yuan Qi wants the same. His family was destroyed by the fate of a True God. No God with chaos magick had a good life. That's why I recommend watching Ancient Love Poetry before, it makes so much more sense, even though they changed the names of the characters and some details of the storyline, it's all there. You can feel how sad and heavy those light comedy scenes are when you know why the characters got there...

I love Ancient Love Poetry, because xianxia is my favorite genre and he played a god beautifully. I watched 6 of his dramas and I prefer the xianxia ones. Ancient Love Poetry, The Legends and Dance of the Sky Empire, still need to watch once upon a time. Just watched Arsenal Military Academy and I loved his hole there too.
