If you go in expecting nothing and binge watch maybe ... but I was watching this as it released in the US. I was hoping that I wouldn't keep hating the FL, but she was insufferable. Got to ep 9 and I just don't even care anymore.
All I want to know is, does she have the scars from being shot in the shoulder and the kidney surgery. Why didn't the BRILLIANT doctor not notice that her shoulder didn't have a scar when the bad guys pulled at her shirt??? Is this ever resolved? I don't think I can push through to watch it.... π€ππ
Iβm glad you like the drama! Guess we just have different tastes. For me, the ending was a victim of sloppy writing.…
I've seen just about every drama out religated to searching for little known dramas and even Jdramas. I've burned through SO many. Loved Mr Queen... Love just about EVERY food drama. Jewel in the Palace was my first introduction to Kdramas so I have a fondness for both the Sageuks and the Foods... π

Sometimes life prescribes an easy no brainer. Currently watching Swords into Plowshares... That might be right up you alley. Need lightness to combat the heavy, heady dramas.
So writing a lighthearted drama about a historical figure that changed for the good is negating history? I think not. Everyone who watches this can tell it's a fantasy. Isn't it everyone's wish for things to be better, for us to have made better choices and end up in a better place because of this? This drama gives those of us who wish and hope for a better end. Wouldn't history have been better if the tyrant's heart softened and those in power made sound decisions for the masses? It's not everyone's cup of tea, but I for one, want to keep hoping for better and not be constantly reminded of the horrors that were committed. Also, It made me look up the history on this king to get the facts. β€οΈ
So sad that you didn't enjoy it more. It's wrapped up better than most dramas. They may have left some open ends for a possible sequel. So many side characters were interesting to me... It's ripe for fleshing out side character stories for a wrap up. Sometimes analyzing a drama too much for flaws leaves you empty and not able to enjoy the drama for what it is. This was not meant to be a 50 episode sweeping historical drama. It was a lighthearted twist on history that makes you hungry for more. β€οΈ
Why do so many people like this drama? The FL is irritatingly stupid. They tout her marshal skills which NEVER show up and the villain could have been killed so many times... all this for a long drawn out crusade where the ML dies and we get a lackluster ending. We're we even watching the same drama?
Trope overload! Seems like this is the new formula for quick drama. Tired of it. I want more dramas like Joy of Life! Please let them start investing in GREAT storylines.
I NEED to find a recipe for the fruit flower cakes.... Actually, I found a video of how to make them but it's in Chinese... Can anyone help me translate????
