Very much agree. There were hundreds character, each somehow connected. The story not only about usual historical palace drama with politics, scheming and war, but also about jianghu world and not mention there was small part about tomb raider. Typical drama will stop at win the war then time jump to couple minutes of happy ending with main lead's child as guest star. If they follow the novel, there still long way after their firstborn; bigger war, bigger scheme. Honestly, first, I don't know how the team could weave all the story into <40 episodes. But after the trailer, I have confidence the team will squeeze it well, change the necessary and create a masterpiece!

Hi, I'm reading the novel right now, too and haven't finish yet. From my understanding (other may correct it)... The first Prince Ding was brother of founding Emperor. After three generations Next Prince Ding Mo Liufang (MXY's father) help young Emperor executed corrupt officials and support him as Prince Regent until young Emperor sixteenth then resign. In 29 year of young Emperor, Mo Liufang dead of illness. Mo Xiuwen (MXY's brother) as eldest son inherit the title, ordered to campaign against barbarians but died of illness. Then 18 years old MXY inherit the title continue the war. It also mention somewhere in novel that by generation although MXY and current Emperor & Prince Li similar in age but MXY should be one generation above

Comments for novel. Beware Spoilers!

1. I love to see FL’s growth. From a girl of a small town into a female general of a nation. From someone who thought to be low in status into someone who can stand by ML’s side openly and honorably

2. I lost count by how many times ML injured. Not a simple one but bloody wounds that could cost his life, but thanks God he is that strong. He wounded by many kinds of scenario from schemed by his own uncle, ambushed by enemy, saved his cared one, purified the sword to punished himself

3. We get great amounts of battle and fighting scenes. Novel tells it quite in detail not only with action but also with strategies. I wish drama can film everything well and don't turn it into some kind of narrative only

4. We get a quite good amounts of intimate scenes too. But honestly, just like some people, I’m not fan of these because it’s a rough one and repeated. He kissed her without consent, fortunately he didn’t force to do the deed without consent. He still thinks for her dignity until the very later almost end part of novel when both consents, but again it’s a rough one that I didn’t like. I believe NRTA wouldn’t permit those scenes, I only hope drama not delete all, just tone it down, make it smooth please

5. Author could hide the truth of the past in layering way so we would know it little by little – half from this side, half from that side – throughout the novel until the final truth in the end, which for me interesting. After finish, I found some villain walk on grey path which I cannot blindly hate and blame them

Yeah, I’m the next person who finish the novel while waiting for the drama. After I finished it, I'm getting more excited to see the drama, especially after I saw Qixi clip from @Enigma05. Thanks to you! Sooner will be better. Overall, novel is not too long, the English translation is quite good and the plot is very engaging. It’s easy to finish it and we get a happy ending!

Even when Marquis Wu'an being mentioned in LotFG, I immediately remembered. Hey that's the same character name as Xie Zheng here!

What's the difference between the "He" of the He family (e.g., He Ru Fei) and the current "He" of He Yan? I know that in episode 2, He Yan's teacher assigned a male identity to He Yan with a different character. How different is it? Is the character different, but the pronunciation is the same or pinyin pronunciation different too?

I found that He Yan proudly call her own name without worry Xiao Jue will suspect that she has the same family name with He Ru Fei, and yes in earlier days Xiao Jue may suspect her for many things but not for her name

Yeah, kinda my wishful thinking for her to have a real new and free life without any concern someone would expose her identity

May I ask, do He Yan family (all. including her father, mother, brother) know her face? I see that she always wear mask. Maybe after everyone thought she dead and happened meet her again they wouldn't recognize her easily

I love the straightforward romance in this drama. I think it's the most straightforward of many drama I've ever seen. When we're faced with many cases and mysteries to solve, why complicate things? This drama delivers exactly like that. There are no crazy misunderstandings, no stupid noble idiocy, no unnecessary delays. It's very smooth; they just talk it out and hit it off immediately. I hope it stays like this until the end of the drama
