"faith"..... So boring....same with "Inspiring Generation" and, "Joseun Gunman"; and the main guy in "Padam Padam" was so ugly....I know not everyone can be Kim Bum but that guy was just hideous.
The second Kdrama I ever watched was BoF and my first thought was if I was a Korean mom, I would be very concerned about how young women are treated in dramas. Most of the portrayals are as you stated: young women are weak, sexually inexperienced and tolerate verbal and physical abuse. Being the functional adult that I am (and in a safe, stable relationship with another well-balanced adult), I can separate Kdrama from reality. Not sure the young and impressionable could make that distinction. As far as the physical abuse between parents/children and bosses/subordinates, I wonder if that really happens and to what degree.
I admire your courage for writing this article, knowing full well you'll probably get a lot of pushback from readers.
Really enjoyed this movie. A must-see for Kim Myung Min fans. Nice combination of action, fantasy and good old fashioned detective story. Not sure why the overall rating is kinda low.
Nice article, I mainly paid attention to questions about Chinese dramas. For those new to Chinese dramas or want…
Agreed on "Prince of Lan Ling" loved that drama. I shipped the OTP more than I ever did iany OTP in a Korean drama. "Perfect Couple" was also pretty good.
Woohoo! Thanks for covering Choi Ji Woo! I was blown away by her in "Can't Lose", though I did NOT like her when she was beating up on (Yoon) Sang-hyun oppa! (But I know, I know, that was just her character, not her personally). The classic "Winter Sonata" is on my TBW list...I know it's one of the first super-popular dramas. I hope we can see CJW again soon.
Jung In Ki, he shows up in lots of dramas. Seen him some of the ones you mentioned plus "Beethoven Virus", "Suspicious Housemaid", "Gapdong" and now in "Sensory Couple". One of the hardest-working supporting actors in K-show biz!
I am loving Lee Won Jong in "Girl Who Sees Smells". (And what a great picture you've found of him). I really liked "Mr. Baek", mostly because of Shin Ha Kyun, I thought he was really good and underrated. Apparently he mostly acts in movies.
This was a great series of articles. Well done, Park ChoHwa. I am looking forward to the upcoming series about female stars over 40.
