I hope they do build a strong relationship on some kind of mentor or even brotherhood type so that it's one of…
Except in the cave, when he says the people he was closest to were here. I wish they emphasized the friendship showing that the fight was not supposed to end in death. Will also make his relationship with Hu Fei more meaningful. I thought it was only because of guilt at first.
Am I imagining this or it will happen ,, Mentor /disciple relationship ? he saved him when he almost drown so…
Once he finds out that there is a third party involved who murdered his parents, the one who planted the poison on the sword, I hope that happens sooner than later. They can investigate together. Miao Ren Fung is already calling him buddy and offered to be his master. I want the bromance now!
100% agree. Sloppy writing & a terrible wrap up even if there is a season 2, probably why it is such a mess of a season end. I truly do not understand the high ratings.
Your review is the most spot on for me. I skipped reading all the 9s & 10s, would not be able to stomach reading them.
I felt the start of some misgivings when I read the interview from the director when at the start of the airing of this drama that the Hong Sister were not finished writing and needed 10 extra episodes to get it right and then even more so when they took a week hiatus at EP 14 to finish writing. The Hong Sisters shows flashes of brilliance & originality in world building but can't sustain it. They need to add a third writer. And not to be given so much rope that they end up hanging themselves.
And agree with you on the character development, particularly Jang Gang, spending so much time making him an interesting nuanced conflicted character to let him crash & burn, not even sticking to their mythology. Who is the soul in his soul shifted body? It's not the former king, seems to be Jang Gang himself. It's infuriating & stupid.
And Buyeon, where did she go? There was so much richness to explore there, having her powerful character share the body of Mudeok with Naksu. And the mother of Buyeon, how many times do they have to bang her over the head for her not to believe that Mudeok is her daughter?
Also agree with the corporate greed of Netflix. Love that they're giving Kdrama content a global showcase, but at a price. It is not necessary to have a Season 2.
Thank you for taking the time to writing this review.
I agree with the Ever Night being one of the best shows ever but for me only Part 1. Season 2 I could not finish, lost a lot of its luster for me when they replaced Arthur Chen.
100% on the Jang Gang return. Did not even make sense, he's a soul shifter so who is in his body? Seems like it was still him. They could have done so much with his return , his nuanced depiction in earlier scenes was all for what or naught?! Just to bring him back to petrify?:
If "tragic couple" means sad ending or they don't get a HEA, can you please mark as a spoiler please. I was planningto watch it but now sure now. thanks.
