the show depicting that the son who caused the death of a child being abused by his father does not mean you have to show him mercy or whatever. that’s your own conclusion. nobody is forcing you to feel this way. media literacy is important because the depiction of something doesn’t mean enforcement. the show is not trying to mold your thoughts. they’re painting a picture. in reality, whether you like it or not, people who do bad things will still receive sympathy from their close ones. things aren’t as white and black and everyone’s moral boundaries are different.

thank you for reading! yes, chinese youth dramas are often formulaic but i do think this one was unique in its own ways and of course, it's the actors and the main couple's dynamic that makes the show. but yeah, honestly, i'm reminded of the ending at times and it still upsets me lol. the show is good but leaves a bad taste so i understand if you would want to avoid that!
