I get it many are not used to slow pacing dramas. Someone earlier replied to my comment and said they are used to it but the plot isn’t moving along just repeating itself. the plot is moving along but because the aunt hasn’t got her due justice you feel as if each scheme she does, each set back Li Zhen faces is repetitive and not moving along. This drama has 42 episodes we’re only in ep.26 the drama has to make its way through the journey in order to get to where Li Zhen will end up. The drama once chanced its title name as The Legend of Li Zhen but returned it back to Jiaye aka The Heir. The actual name Jiaye means “family business.” Not sure how they all thought this drama wouldn’t focus on that. I’m also enjoying it and can’t wait to binge watch it.

your welcome S+ is like top tier drama ratings high quality, high volume and performance. The heir has been solidified as that. Yang Zi drama is doing well spite its being up against The Lead, and other dramas. It’s holding its on. Even when ratings stalled for a few days it climbed back. Now it’s climbing each day with each episode. The douban was initially predicted at 6.1 because of 1.0 star bombing but now it’s predicted 7.5 and 8.0 it could still debut at 6.1. She’s had dramas with low douban scores but high ratings BCE was one of them. That drama BCE is still one of Tencent cash cow besides LYF.

I agree. When it first aired only four epsiodes as per such with any Yang Zi drama. Her antics and haters bombed it with 1.0 star ratings on MDL, IMDB, and Douban. Once again it made such a fuss it trended on Weibo hot search. Even none Yang Zi fans were calling the antics out. This drama debuted on here with a 7.4 then it raised a point each day until it finally made it to 8.0 and they dropped to 7.3 and back. It just made it to 7.8 again. You have people rating each episode 1.0 and the full drama of 42 episodes 1.0 I keep seeing new comers ask the same question over and over. it’s not hard to grasp what is happening. Than you have those who find the drama repetitive in storyline. It’s not repetitive you’re not use to dramas that likes to showcase an actual story telling. You want the villains to get their swift justice and move the plot along. But with 42 episodes what will that serve? The drama has been trending none stop. The cast has been trending non stop. The drama is verified and certified S+ ranked and added to IQYI hall of fame. IQYI doesn’t just add any drama to that list. Yang Zi never has a bad drama. They did the same with Born to be alive and the drama has a douban 8.4 as it just increased to 8.4 and also has 8 nominations for the prestigious award magonlia award. Yang Zi even has her fourth nomination for best lead actress for magonlia awards. If she wins finally her haters will pull a Cheng Yi and couch up blood. 🩸 Because out of all of her 90s peers she’s the only one who’s been nom back to back. Neitzens in China said they will be devastated and shock if she doesn’t win. Yang Zi thinks it’s an honor just to be nominated. I want her to win for herself and her craft. To show haters can’t stop her success. The drama is doing really well. Yet people saying it’s not or it isn’t their cup of tea. It’s fine to have an actual opinion but a bias one because you hate a certain actress is not invalid. I even watch other actors I don’t like works to maybe see if my opinion changes. Sometimes they do other times they don’t. But never will I rate a drama 1.0 unless the writing was truly horribly. Even then I will give it a 5 to a 6.

tbh I don’t know what the scene was implying I just know she has her long hair tied in a traditional side ponytail in that era. She’s in a purplish but not too loud purple but a faded purple worn out outfit. On her knees. I think someone was going to hit her or someone else and she stood up. I wished I had saved that clip during filming. if I come across it on Weibo as I’m looking for it. Will share link. But it would be but if it does happened I think it’s because of her ex.

I can’t wait to see the scenes I saw on Weibo during filming. If I’m correct Li Zhen will be dressed like a servant with her hair to the side in some scenes on her knees. I wonder who bought her? Tian family? Or the Japanese pirates or the hidden villains in the capitol so much more to see.

Right. I think many are just not used to cultural heritage dramas but I tend to enjoy these types. This drama is telling a story The legend of Li Zhen.

I’m so glad the Uncle came in and stood up for her. Even the other aunt started to fall for the fourth aunt drama. This drama just keeps getting better. Another thing I want to point out. People the writing isn’t repeating it’s self. It’s building up. I can tell who are not fond of dramas or never sat through dramas like this. Because every comment is “The fourth aunt is annoying and needs to go. is this romance? the Ml is barely there? I don’t think the plot knows where to go. Li Zhen is just another Mudan.” etc. Back then dramas with 80 episodes had writing paces, plot point lots of contrived characters and disasters after disasters. It’s just now people are used to having the short end without substance dramas. Just for the sake of having good looking actors who can somewhat act. The storyline has always been about ink making, restoring the heritage and a young girl journey to reclaim it. If you didn’t read the novel or the drama outlined that’s on you. Here we are moving deeper into the plot and it’s getting more and more interesting and the plot is showing who’s all got their hands inside of destroying Li ink. We also are getting closer to the actual villain and truth of what really happened years ago. Romance will come but it’s not the focus. I think this drama is just being unfairly judged wrong over here. luckily it’s doing amazing in China and overseas in other countries. Anyways excited for tomorrows episodes.

I just want to add out of the business female dramas you mentioned only Sword and Brocde, which was the first one I watched as this theme was my favorite, followed by Dream of splendor (And yes it’s definitely to me surpassing that drama) Flourished peony, in the name of blossom. Even Yang Zi new wrapped drama The way you come back. Is business theme but base on true life and story of a famous woman Mrs. Dong. There Yang Zi challenge as an actress begins she plays from all ages up to 70 years. This drama definitely never sold a lovers tale and that’s where many are having trouble understanding. This drama isn’t belittling or not promoting the Ml as he’s also been seen with yang Zi and cast promoting. they even did some cute offline events. This is and always has been family business and female centric as she’s chosen these scripts such for the past years now.

Right. I was hoping she would’ve been paired like in the novel with Yang Yang as ZRN no shade to her because I do like some of her dramas. She just has such a baby face. But even if I didn’t get that. I would’ve still loved to have watch her be with the team. I agree with the bland level. Even with these two gorgeous men it’s not holding my attention long anymore. Just now waiting on filming for TIA2
